What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

so... about starfleet being a milit[gets photonned from orbit like God]

My simple ( :D ) description of the Enterprise finale is:

It was an insult to:
Fans of Enterprise
Fans of TNG
Fans of Star Trek in general
Fans of the actors
Fans of the characters
Fans of "The Pegasus"
Fans of television
Fans of well-written fiction
Fans of valentines
Fans of fans
Fans of brain cells
...

I loved Jolene's wonderfully rude response to the "valentine to the fans" statement, which I'm sure we've all heard by now.
i wouldn't have minded the enterprise finale.... if it weren't the *finale*

There's no reason for controversy over the fact that Starfleet as represented in Star Trek on screen is military.
and yet we just had like thirty or fourty pages arguing about it over 2 days, hence my humorous attempt at deflection from the current thingy XD

and i think it broke my notifications a little

If you don't seem to care about real controversy from BtS actions, then what else do you want to talk about?

The thread is about Controversial Trek Opinions. I think that means things that you don't like that are commonly seen as a positive in the franchise.

There's nothing controversial about "Rick Berman is a dick" or "Rick Berman should apologize".

Just some numbers:
The whole "Is Starfleet the Military?" thing lasted from Page 1176 to Page 1213.
The other craziness has been these last 15 pages since.

Page 1176 was on Tuesday. So, 52 pages in five days. Of all of this total.

Yikes.

Just reminds me of the old days. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Unless you're a mod who has to read all the self-righteous crap spewed in this thread. :shifty:

From Page 586 of the Deep Space Nine Companion

Of Farrell's decision to leave the show, the actress says simply, "My heart said it was time to move on. After playing the character for six years, there's things I wish we would have done. I wish I would have had at least one fight scene this year. But there's nine major characters, so the writers can only do so much." Farrell admits, "I've had six years and one hundred fifty episodes of experience on this show, so my sadness is more in saying goodbye to the people. I don't feel cheated out of the character in the same way as I would have if the show had been cancelled, because I've gotten the opportunity to play her. And besides," she says, "it's Jadzia that's dying. Dax is living."

The book was published one year after Deep Space Nine went off the air. The author had unprecedented access to actors, writers, producers, etc. when writing this book while the show was still on the air. Don't you think if there had been any disagreements between Farrell and Berman or anyone else, she or the producers would have taken the time to mention something while the book was being written?

Depends, sometimes if one digs too hard, that unfettered access can become restricted very quickly.
