What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

But Jadzia didn't need to be written off.

She didn’t need to be. No.

But at the same time… water under the bridge. You’re talking about something that happened three decades ago.

What’s more, you’re talking about a pretty minor decision in the grand scheme of things.

When people say the Holocaust cannot be forgiven, almost a century on, I understand. Millions died in one of the greatest acts of barbarism committed in human history.

The ENT finale… recasting Dax… and you’re holding a grudge, 30 years later? On behalf of people who don’t even know you exist?

The above poster was right. You have a distorted sense of perspective and it is incredibly unhealthy.

27 years ago this spring. Hell, TOS was canceled 56 years ago and I'd be more inclined to be mad at NBC for wiping an entire show off the map after just three seasons, but both happened and one took place before I was even born. I can live with it, to quote Benjamin Sisko.

As it Should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, EVER!
Every generation after us needs to learn of the Holocaust.

That's my choice.

That's fine, I'm okay with that.

you don't like it, that sucks for you. I guess it wasn't made for you.
No

It's just something I don't like.

Except, I do. It's a good series that repeats errors of season 1 that hold it back. Good but not great

It's not black or white.
I actually lost interest in The Last of Us early on as a show BECAUSE it was so faithful to the original material. I spent too many hours playing that game several times, and just sitting through it passively wasn't interesting.
Because it adds nothing new.

The thing is, that despite the errors of S1, I think PIC S3 was the best by far.

To me, it didn't make many mistakes other than not being a bit longer and the final reveal & battle being a bit rushed due to lack of extra episode count.

But that's neither here or there.

What you think were repeat errors, I didn't see it that way.

YMMV, Trek fans: it's okay to like different things.

There doesn't need to be a Universal Consensus on what is liked or not liked.

We each can enjoy Trek in our own way.

Ok

I'd stop watching. The horror.
They got lucky that it was the Trill who got re-casted.

We don't have a show full of Trills or Trill equivalent characters.

We got the one and only Trill on the show that needed to be recast, and it worked out inspite of the BtS situation.

Yes. Business decisions do work out.

It was an identical story framework, mystery box, surprise relative, and all.

But, I'm glad people enjoyed it. I did.

But that's not speaking for all of fandom or what fandom wants.

Think of Fandom as the Infinite Headed Hydra.

Every Fan is one head of the Hydra, there won't be universal consensus other than we like ___ property.

After that, the details gets murky with each fan.

I know I can be a lot sometimes, I can be a dog with a bone.
I know, it's not like I didn't know that about you since the early days of our interactions on TrekBBS.

Just make sure to remember this is all in fun, an escape from a world that is dealing many a pretty shitty hand.
That's the understatement of the century.

Make sure to keep things in perspective.
I know what I want & what outcomes I want.
Whether or not that happens, that depends on many outside factors that I have no control over.
But you manage to live with that situation and move on with life the best you can.

Glad we agree. No more of the "this is what the fandom wants" nonsensical statements any more.
All you have to do is look at what succeeds with the audience.
A large part isn't every part of fandom.
If it works, stick to it.

e.g. Lower Decks doesn't work for some Trek Fans.
But for many, it does work.
I know you like it, I like it.
It works for us, but it won't work for every Trek Fan out there.

But that's okay, doesn't mean Lower Decks doesn't have it's fan base.

Same with every iteration of Trek that comes out, as long as you can find your audience, that's good enough.

Seems like the problem here was playing the game several times! It's no wonder you were a bit bored of it.

If you don't want to experience The Last of Us again, don't watch something called The Last of Us. That's why I don't read novelisations. I've watched the movie already, I don't need to read it. Though I'm glad that novelisations exist for all the people who'd rather experience a story as a book and I hope they feel like they are experiencing the story and not a reimagining of it.

I think many people want a little extra meat when they follow something they like from one format to another.

i liked Ferrell on Becker

i also still wonder why she wound up not voicing Six on Tripping the Rift after doing a bunch of promos where that was part of the draw. i swear they left in some of her lines

and yet I went to see Uncharted and saw something completely different from the video games. Maybe I should just watch whatever I feel like?
