What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Why would you need a "Medal of Valor" for discovering a Nebula?

it might be a particularly scary nebula. It might have saw you looking at it and said, "listen here, punk, you tell ONE other scientist you discovered me, and its curtains! Curtains I tells ya!"
and then you have to sit along in your space diner trying to get the courage to do it anyway.
Is that really a nebula at that point if it talks to you and communicates with you?

Wouldn't that be a new life form?

Starfleet folks are trained to be ready to fight wars at a moment’s notice.

Do they have awards of valor for finding a new nebula?

Why would finding a nebula earn an award of valor?

It could earn a science award, which they absolutely do have.

A member of Starfleet could earn an award of valor when acting in their (secondary) military role, or earn an award for science and exploration in their (primary) science and exploration role.

How is the military role secondary when they would immediately drop any scientific duties and fulfil their military role when needed?

If the military role comes first and takes priority then it is the primary role.

I don't really know how to communicate with you but I like you, so here is a nebula with a big cat.
You must've been so happy that the XCV-330 like vessel the USS Beagle got a full guest role on the 2nd to last ep of Lower Decks S5.

In some ways, I think the Lower Decks Art Department & Design crew improved the original XCV-330 design.

1) It can land on a Planet
2) It can cross Dimensions
3) It's Nose Section looks far nicer than the original concept art.

You might find these interesting if you like that design. From an online RPG me a few friends ran, set in the prime timeline 2081-2084 or so.

I could see the XCV-330 design become a "Space RV" of sorts for Civilian Usage.

It's space Frame is conducive to that since it's similar to many Vulcan Designs.

Just mirror the front fuselage tube to the aft.

Move the Impulse Exhausts to the Pylons, and you can have a lot more internal volume while you travel the stars.
