Write your own Series Concept for the Enterprise F

Go wild for a concept with the series set around the Enterprise F.

In my concept, after the Dominion War ended the Dominion would become the "Romulans" of the next era, with them retreating and being inclusive. Tensions remain cold after the war, with a Dominion Vessel not being seen by the Federation for many decades. The Klingon Empire would spend decades fixing itself, as well as the Cardassians and Romulans. The Federation would be so damaged from the war that exploratory missions wouldn't have been a priority - with the main essence of the first 30-40 years after the Dominion War having been reduced to fixing and stabilizing the Quadrant. The Cardassians would be reliant on the Federation for Aid, and would become a close Federation ally however they themselves would not join the Federation.

The Romulan Supernova never happens (I always found that whole plotline to be stupid) and the Romulans remain a rival to the Federation, with relations with them depending on whoever is in charge. The Klingons and Romulans revert back to their old rivalries decades after the Dominion War, with the Klingons having basically shed off most of the warrior class during the Dominion War, they are beginning to embrace new ways of thinking, while the Romulans double down on control and authority of their government, unveiling new classes of ships, etc over the years.

The Enterprise E would remain under Picard until Picard would finally take the promotion to Admiral many years after the Dominion War, with the Enterprise E having made some new contacts and exploration, but not quite on the level of the D. The Enterprise E would finally be damaged in some sort of conflict before it would be retired from service. Riker would end up becoming Captain of the USS Titan, before at some point later in his career becoming an Admiral as well. Worf would eventually become the ambassador to the Klingons, and Data - Data would begin to get interest in taking a Command role in Starfleet.

The Enterprise F would have begun construction around 80 years after the Dominion War, with Data becoming its Captain. The Enterprise F, in the state of new co-operation with the Cardassians would be a "joint ship" between the Cardassians and the Federation, as well as some Klingon elements as well. The crew would be a combined crew of Klingons, Cardassians and Federation, with Data's first officer being a Cardassian, an Andorian Doctor, a Human Security officer, and with the main science officer being a Klingon.

The USS Enterprise F would be tasked with exploring a newly discovered Wormhole - taking it into the Andromeda Galaxy, where the antagonistic Kelvan Empire lurks on the other side, while the Dominion is becoming more active, with perhaps the first episode of the series seeing the USS Enterprise F encounter Dominion vessels with a whole "We haven't seen them in half a century, the last encounter we had with them cost billions of lives..."

My idea for an Enterprise F series would be exploring the far reaches of the Alpha Quadrant and toward the near side of the Gamma Quadrant. After Worf causes (or doesn't) the damage to the E, maybe sometime in the late 2380s, the F launched from Deep Space 9 away from Bajoran and Cardassian space, beyond the Badlands, and into the great unknown.

It returns for Frontier Day in 2401 or whatever year it was and gets blown up.

That seems like a very short run, I think.

If I was to use an alternate timeline, E wouldn't have been lost and Picard would have been more cohesive across the seasons without using STO derivative trash ships as canon. Never would have been an F. E would still have been well within its lifetime (30 years old)

I love your ideas MurphyCooper, especially ignoring the idiotic destruction of Romulus in JJ Trek.

My own ideas are quite similar. Since the Enterprise-C and D had relatively short careers, I'd want the Enterprise-E to be around for at least forty years with different crews. I despise the design (and all of John Eaves' work) but I don't want to just toss away another Enterprise.

At some point, the Enterprise-E is damaged or retired and there's a long period without an Enterprise. Starfleet wants to save the name for a special ship and mission and is busy dealing with the ramifications of the Dominion War. In my vision, the Romulan Empire seeks peace and collaboration with the Federation after their losses in the war and the damage done by Shinzon. Donatra becomes the new praetor and asks Picard to assist with building a relationship with the Federation. Picard accepts and becomes an ambassador.

After NEM, Geordi takes a leave of absence from Starfleet to work on somehow restoring Data. He realizes the only way for Data to live again is if another Soong-type android can be found that is as sophisticated as Data. He requests that Lore be revived and tells him of Data's death and B4's current status. Lore realizes he is Data's only hope and agrees to allow his own positronic matrix to be overwritten. Data is restored in Lore's body and retains his memories. He also has access to emotions and a new program that no one knew Lore had: the ability to appear older with the passage of time. Since he was pronounced dead, Data remains out of Starfleet to deal with his restoration and resides on Earth.

Worf is promoted to captain and succeeds Picard. Geordi asks to return to the Enterprise now that Data is restored, but Worf agrees on one condition: Geordi will serve not as chief engineer, but as XO. Geordi agrees.

Decades go by and the Enterprise-E continues with new crews until her retirement in 2423. (I'm ignoring all of the Kurtz stuff). Another decade goes by before the Enterprise-F is commissioned. Her mission is long-range deep space exploration; unlike her her two immediate predecessors, she is not intended to stay around Federation space and be involved in diplomatic and political matters. Among her command crew is the first Romulan in Starfleet, who serves as chief of security. Her captain, having returned to service as an XO for years and then a captain of several other ships, is Data, who is also now a father, having created two new androids while out of Starfleet.

The Enterprise-F leaves for the deepest reaches of unknown space on a twenty-year mission to go boldly where no one, including sentient androids, has gone before.

Pretty nice concepts overall. I will never understand how the whole dumb Romulus supernova ever got accepted into writing. There is absolutely no need for it. Zero. The Romulans were basically killed off in the writing of the show, with the "Romulan Free State" and other Romulans basically being forgettable plotlines and characters in the future shows.

Voyager was definitely the closest concept I would have to a true Exploration show. The Enterprise F would be the flagship of the fleet, though I also like your idea as well.

My own series take on the Enterprise-F was to not get too bogged down on what happened before. Not to ignore it, but to have moved past it and only reference some things briefly in passing once in a blue moon. As such, I more or less had a clean slate and dealt more with new things rather than what happened in previous shows and movies.

The basic premise established in the pilot episode would be the opening up of a vast unexplored region of space containing hundreds of uncharted star systems and worlds. The Federation moved quickly to establish a starbase there, but the Klingons and the Romulans have also established footholds in the region as well. The Enterprise-F is spearheading Starfleet's efforts to explore and tame this new frontier, but as the series progresses, a great ancient mystery about this region is gradually revealed and the crew learns that the Federation's interest in colonizing this expanse isn't as straightforward as it seems...

Enterprise-F appears three times in my Star Trek Hunter series (Episodes 2.1, 8.9, and 28.7). Enterprise-D, Enterprise-E, and Enterprise-F were all crashed into something or other by Commander, then Captain, then Rear Admiral Will Riker, bringing about the destruction of the first two ships and causing the Enterprise-F to return to space dock for an extensive retrofit.

Enterprise-F first appears under the command of Captain Geordi LaForge, then by Rear Admiral Riker, then finally by Captain T'May. Geordi and his Chief Engineer, Commander Reginald Barclay, are the only survivors of the Enterprise-F, only because they were attending a joint engineering conference with the Romulan Star Empire and got captured by the Klingon Empire as prisoners of war.

Geordi's first officer was promoted after LaForge had been MIA for several months. T'May captained the U.S.S. Enterprise-F for 27 minutes before her ship was rammed by a bird of prey, causing a warp core breach in both ships that ignited a pre-stellar gas cloud, birthing a star.

Thanks!! rbs
