At this point, Mrs. Flood is just mocking The Doctor. And us.
That made me smile when Mrs. Flood pointed to the TARDIS and said "you want to see a real show, look over there. But beware, it has a limited run." Which fits perfectly (perhaps unintentionally?) with all the talk on the internet about how this could be the last season of Doctor Who for a while.

I like the idea that it’s all been stirred up in a meta way. And if the stuff with the who fans was a reshoot, then all the stuff with ‘what about the one with the goblins?’ might be a sly wink and a nod that they have found a way to course correct a little after last years less than stellar impact.
Would be very impressed if they pull something like that off though.

I'm still waiting for my "The new doctor firmly cements themselves as the doctor" scene. We still haven't got that with Ncuti.

Also what was the deal with playing "The Sad Man With A Box" with the who fans? I'm still waiting for Murray Gold to make an epic theme for his return. Still. It's early in the season

Having seen this twice, this is just exceptionally fun. Actual real quibble is picking Blink over Heaven Sent, but we'd be fooling ourselves if we didn't aknowledge that the former is the most well-known DW story to pretty much any casual fan. Also doesn't exactly require prior viewing to work, either.

But whatever. Ncuti's on fire and this series, thus far, exceptional. More of this, please!

For me, that happened way back in Boom.

Very fun episode. Alan Cumming did a great job, wouldn't have known it was him from the voice.

Belinda is great. I thought Millie Gibson did a good job in general last series but Sethu is obvisouly quite far ahead of her in acting ability and it really makes Belinda and The Doctor feel like equals in their scenes together.

It might have been interesting during the meta scene if the Doctor picked up one of the classic Who Blu-Ray sets and made a comment about what he used to look like or the actor playing him. Or, if the fans either asked him about Mrs Flood or warned him about how she kept popping up.
By the way, why doesn't the Doctor take Bel to May 23rd 2025?

I think it was implied, that May 24th is the focus point of the no TARDIS zone. But that he he cannot really get close either. 1950 was the closest he could land without establishing his tether was my interpretation.

Crossing your timestream is never a good idea.

It may be entirely in my head, but I was interpreting the tether as like a trianglation thing, so he was going to place three or more of the tethers in time and space to then let him get to May 24th 2025.

Did the first episode say *when* Belinda was taken? I assumed that they couldn't go to the 23rd because that would be before she was taken, so there'd be two of her.

I really enjoyed the simplicity and literalness of them becoming more 3D as they "became more developed characters," though it might have been nice if this wasn't ONLY by sad things.

True, but Belinda might be able to, the things the Doctor thinks of as good in his life are mostly gone - even Ruby at the mo. Everything he finds good and fun relies on his relationships with humans or human-adjacents. And he's probably trying to make an effort not to come off creepy to Belinda by doing the whole "seeing the universe through your eyes" stuff after last week...

PS thanks for giving the current companion the same name as my ex, RTD. ;)

I really should be over it after 28 years, but then Rose and Sarah-Jane show you never really forget.

Everything I hoped it would be, and more. Alan Cumming voicing an all-singing, all-dancing cartoon-turned-god was always going to be fire, and thankfully, everything else rose to the occasion. Best ep of the Ncuti era so far. This series is shaping up really nicely, not least in how Mrs Flood is simply appearing, with zero fanfare or explanation. Exactly the right amount of playfully tantalising, and crossing everything RTD can nail the finish after the inevitable Big, Dramatic Reveal.

Fun little possibly-not-coincidence: this ep came out on the 95th anniversary of the release of the very first Looney Tunes cartoon, Sinkin' in the Bathtub, April 19th 1930.
