Interesting, I was just thinking about the return of Kurtwood Smith's character yesterday.

I kinda had a feeling that is where they were going with the lady killer angle.

Eh. Average. Still, this show is better at average than many at their best. Since I missed some of "Medium" due to "Lost" I don't know what nx1701g means about "the return of Kurwood Smith." I was just thinking this week and next week would please "Voyager" fans.

Tonight we had Mark Harelik who played Kashyk, Janeway's love interest in "Counterpoint," and next week we get Kurtwood Smith who was Annorax, the obsessive time lord in "Year of Hell."

    Bring back Cynthia Keener!

I didn't see the "lady" killer angle coming at all. To be honest, I am exhausted and a little off my game at the moment so I can't really say. But I was more interested in Devalos' campaign troubles that the cougar storyline anyway.

It's funny, has anyone else noticed that when Allison is on she is really on but when she is off she is really off. Tonight's episode really showed that well. What she picked up from the political donor was spot on but she was way off on the killer. I have days like that so I understand completely but mine are nowhere as interesting as hers.

As for the episode as a whole, I thought it was pretty good but Average. After the previous heavy story arcs, this one was just fluffy enough to take the weight off. But I am not sure about that silly cliched remote cued ending. It felt tacked on and a little out of character. I also would have liked to have found out the motivation behind the killings. Was the guy living out some twisted fantasy or was he exacting a revenge of sorts? (I also have some issues with the idea of gay serial killer too but I am willing to overlook it for the sake of the story.) Oh and the nail gun murder was just creepy... That will make me think twice before picking up someone random in a bar... or at least anyone with a large enough bag to hide a power tool.

And I am really excited about next week's show. I love Kurtwood Smith and this character is seriously messed up. Allison has the worst luck when it comes to finding new friends.

Kurtwood Smith plays an FBI profiler on Medium. In his first appearance Allison had dreams about a murder involving a man who was a serial rapist that cut apart his victims. An FBI profiler was called in who was supposed to be one of the best in FBI history to help craft the profile and capture the criminal. Allison believed that the rapist was a man who was acquited from previous charges and disappeared 9 years ago (and was pursued by Smith's character).

The criminal killed again in Mexico, but the Agent tracked him down while he was in the act. The profiler emptied a clip into him. Turns out that the same thing happened again in Phoenix and the Profiler repeated it because Devalos pulled the Death Penalty. Allison told him that she'd be watching. He told her, in response, that she wouldn't do anything to him because she knew that the rapist deserved death ("You might consider turning me in. But then you'll remember that girl - strangled with her own underwear. You may remember the women in Lincoln Park, Ohio. Or you might remember that mutilated dog in the garage clinging to life.")

Anyone notice the 360 sitting next to the TV right at the end of this episode?

I enjoyed this one - mostly. Didn't much like the resolution of the lady killer story. But I loved the Devalos story, and enjoyed the cute family stuff. Missed Ariel this week - the last couple/several weeks, actually. :(

And I like Allison's hair at this length. I think it's much more flattering than the chin cut, which for some reason has just bothered me.

One of the ladies Scanlon questioned about the book looked uncannily like Claudia Christian, so much so that I thought she would end up being the killer. :p

I thought it was funny how Det. Scanlon became potential prey for a homosexual serial killer. But we still don't know how the police got a confession out of the suspect, or how much time elapsed after the elevator scene.
