Why was the USS Enterprise F decommissioned so early?

Considering Frontier Day is supposed to commemorate the NX-01's launch, it should have been at the celebrations. Then we could have had a scene with it, the first Enterprise, the D, the Enterprise from the series which that season is meant to be a celebration of and the Titan A, the future Enterprise, do a flyby together and really get some memberberry juices flowing.

I just came up with better fanank than Lord Terry, and fanwank is his whole thang.
(Somewhat off topic, Mods don't seethe please)
Lord Terry is now handling Visionquest and he's already
returning Faran Tahir as that villain from Iron Man and James Spader as Ultron

It was quite obvious that Frontier Day was supposed to be the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Federation in 2161, that the date of season 3 was supposed to be 2411, not 2401, and that something changed halfway through production. Which was why the NX-01 was sitting completely ignored at the Starfleet Museum while the celebration for it was talking place in a completely different location.

Frontier Day is based on the "Maiden Voyager of the NX-01". Not the founding of the UFP.
Frontier Day was a Federation holiday that commemorated the anniversary of the Enterprise NX-01's maiden voyage in April 2151.

Federation Day celebrates the founding of the UFP.

Even at Marvel, he can't help but bring back dead characters!
You know what, I just realized after going back to see if Faran Tahir's character was killed or not. Seems like he was just incapacitated with that noise thing, but not outright killed on screen. So there may be an out.
Ultron though, very easy to handwave he had a backup of his memory hidden somewhere.

I kinda wish it had been the E being retired and there had been a way for the D to save the E because I think there would have been something nice about honouring both eras of TNG. I also would have loved it because having the D have lasted 7 or 8 years and the E 30 years with their wildly different screen times was kinda fun.
But I think Matalas did it in a way that was respectful to STO and the lineage there and if he was working backwards from making the Titan the next Enterprise then having it be the G instead of the F avoids negative comparisons.

That’s the thing, though. He was being respectful to the less than 1% of Star Trek fans who actually play that game, rather than being respectful to the 100% (give or take 1%) of fans who saw the TNG films. You can’t have a negative comparison with a ship that 99% of fandom never even knew existed.

Like it or not, the Enterprise E is a part of TNG. It deserved to be a part of TNG's Last Ride a lot more than a ship from STO did.

Honestly, I never cared for the E or the TNG movies. They brought a more militant feel to TNG. Something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forgive*.

*Not that anyone cares.

I personally prefer a more militant feel up to a point. The Enterprise E was a great ship in my opinion.

I prefer the STO updated Sovereign class.

STO feels too over-saturated for the most part, but I do admit they have good ideas here and there.

Go watch the video, like Venom Geek Media says, "MANY, MANY of the STO designed ships are BAD -> UGLY -> FUGLY".

But when they get a ship right, man does it hit the spot.
