The team stakes out a warehouse to catch a suspected thief, but ends up witnessing a murder instead; Ducky keeps a secret from the team.

I started this thread a day early just to see if anyone wanted to talk about NCIS in general before it returns post-strike.

I never really watched the show steadily until the third season (watching Kate get her brains blown out was definitely a hook), but USA was airing all the old episodes and I happened to catch the pilot, so I've seen quite a few episodes here and there of the beginning. Seemed like a slightly different show back then, especially when you had Gibbs making the movie references. Also seemed a bit more serious even though there were still lots of wisecracks and light moments. I was also surprised to see McGee and Palmer on during season one, and that McGee and Abby hooked up.

One thing I don't get is USA's promotions for airing NCIS. How can it be the show with the most initials in its title when there's CSI: NY?

^ Well in the first season it was called Navy: NCIS so I guess then it would have been tied for 5 with CSI: NY. Though CSI: NY is really CSI - New York.

There are a lot of references to Abby and McGee hooking up in the show in the past. In Season 4 it was implied a few times the the relationship was still ongoing (including in McGee's Deep Six novel series as he completely describes Abby's bedroom in one of the chapters).

Also I'm afraid that you didn't see the true pilot. The NCIS pilot was a two part episode of JAG in which Jethro had to arrest Harmon Rabb for the murder of Lieutenant Singer.

NCIS is, I think, the best crime drama on primetime TV by about ten thousand miles. I'm really glad it's coming back on tomorrow.

I really like the characters in this show. I've been catching up on the old shows during the marathons they've been running. What ever happened to Palmer and Amy's affair? It was hilarious to see them jumping on each other and never getting caught. I kept expecting them to get found out, but then it seemed to stop altogether.

I have been WAITING for this show to come back. I need my NCIS fix.

Been watching the past seasons on disc (again) in the meantime.

I wish The Unit was back yet...

Also, if kitkat is around, she really should watch the last 4 episodes of Season 3 of The West Wing. Harmon is smoking there.

Yeah, last season's finale was the last time that was done on the show. I think the actress playing Amy has been doing other stuff. She's in the movie 21 right now. That may be why they stopped this plot on the show.

    Ausiello Report

CBS and Paramount declined comment, but sources confirm to me exclusively that a major castmember — a series regular — is on the way out. And as tempted as I am to blab this person's identity, after much soul searching, I've decided that doing so would prove WTS (Way Too Spoilery). And here's why: The actor in question will exit the series in a dramatic fashion. I might even go so far as to call it a major freakin' twist, the repercussions of which will be felt well into next season and, perhaps, beyond.

One thing I feel reasonably comfortable letting you know is that the aforementioned twist does, in fact, occur this season — i.e., sometime between tomorrow night's post-strike return and the season finale in May.

I watched it. I missed the first 5 minuted though. It was pretty good but I guess I watched too much Alias. I figured out how they fooled the camera way before McProbie did.

I thought Ziva would betray them, looks like it's Director Shepard that may be leaving.

Is it me, or did the plots matter more during the first season than the later seasons?

Also, interesting to see Journeyman lady and Bionic Woman/Friday Night Lights guy on the same show right out of the strike. Plus the redhead guy that everyone on this board and his/her mother will recognize from Star Trek.

^ I'll be honest - I only caught the last few minutes of this (it was on in the background) because I wasn't feeling well. I'll check it out online shortly.

I enjoyed the episode tonight. It's great that NCIS is back. I loved the stakeout, it's a nice change of pace from what they usually do. I also loved Tony freaking out Ziva.

And the evil Chinese dude from Prison Break. :p

Anyhoo, by design the NCIS plots are pretty much pointless. I think it's like the cases on JAG, where it's not about what happens but just the characters acting wacky. The only time a case had an impact was basically when a main character was involved in some meaningful way - Kate being shot in the head and Gibbs "retiring". Otherwise, they're mostly not even related to the military in a meaningful way.

For this week, what I would want to know is why a Marine Colonel would be inolved in a case involving Navy ships. But, who cares, I guess?

Oh yeah, this is probably the first time I recogized a "popular" song in a TV soundtrack in my life. They used that Paramore song in the bar and the first thing I thought was, "hey, I know that song!"
