William Shatner Confirms Talks for Star Trek Return at 93 Years Old

They were accommodating for Sir Patrick on PIC as well, they shot his scenes in the mornings because he would get too tired and exhausted in the afternoons etc. Everyone got up at like 4am just to be ready. And they shot the entire show in LA because he didn't want to live in a hotel in Toronto etc. So yeah, Trek has a history of being accommodating, and I'm sure they do the same for Shatner.

is anyone else worried that the requirements of a shooting schedule and all of that kind of thing would be dangerous for a 93-year-old?
I don't expect him to actually physically be on set. I think it'll be like the recent "Unification" short, using face-swapping anti-ageing CGI to make Kirk look like it's 1996 again.

Disney did same, even with the voice of Luke Skywalker.

I'm sure having an old white man in the lead of Star Trek again will be a great comfort to Paramount's new anti-DEI initiative and they'll actually make something this time.

He was close to being in Enterprise, so close they even teased it.

That would have been cool. Well this is the last chance. Shatner still looks healthy and can walk. I wouldnt mind them bringing Kirk back at shatners age in the earky 25th century. He can be the admiral that steers the federation back to a more moralistic road. Basically back to where the federations morality peaked in early next gen before the borg and the dominion harden stsrfleet and the federation.

He was interested in doing Trek XI, he just wanted a larger role than they were offering.

They should have given him a larger role. For all the years of money hes brought in for paramount he deserved a nice inportant role and a nice paycheck.
And, IMO....

thats when you rewrite it to give him a larger role.

Exactly. Its strange but tv and movie icons like Shatner and Hamill seem to have such little say in theur chatacter. Hamill was right about what Johnson did to Luke. Johnson had Mark Hamill on set as Luke Skywalker and in video clips he barely seems to acknowledge Hamills concerns about the trajectory hes taking Luke. Hamill ay one pont after a take seemed near tears. He knew what they were doing to Luke would ruin the chatacter. Biggest blunder of any legacy sci fi picture.

This writer Shatner is talking to has a chance to make up for the ending Kirk got in generations. A once in a lifetime chance to fix it by giving the character another ending. I hope thats what is being planned. But I am very cautious in my optimism.
