Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

So what's the outcome from the KK rumors? KK isn't going anywhere, but the clickbait sites have gotten their clicks? What else have I missed?
she is not retiring from making movies. But right now Lucas is looking for someone to take over the film, time will tell what will happen. But I think this time Lucas film has a real chance of quitting. .

Kennedy is basically leaving at the end of year. Pretty much everyone's prediction was accurate except some thought she would retire when in reality she plans to keep making movies. Unless she is lying and is trying to save face. If she does keep making movies I assume she won't go back to being a producer in the way she used to be,so I am not exactly sure what she would do. Maybe oversea the creation of small independent films in some capacity would be my guess.

I wonder if Lucasfilm will ever do anything with those scripts at some point? It seems like a waste to just have 60 finished and ready to film scripts sitting around gathering dust. Even if they're still unfilmable, you'd think they could do them as an animated series, or turn them into comics or novels.
Some ideas from the show have made their way into the current canon, Wookieepedia has a few of them mentioned at the bottom of the show's article. Like Palpatine's first name of 'Sheev'

I think there's a couple things missing, like IIRC there are couple underworld gangs mentioned in newer material that came from those scripts.

OK, good to know they're not totally going to waste then.

Where exactly did she say she was retiring at the end of the year? And not to be a pain in the ass here, but I'm looking for a direct link to the original source with a direct quote, not some second hand article summarize the interview or wherever she said it.
I read the original interview and I thought she had said that she wasn't leaving any time soon, and that they were just looking into who might take over once she does eventually decide to leave.

Well in the interview she talks about finding her eventual replacement and being in on the selection. About Disney having a deep roster or something to that effect. But before that the main assumption I think was with her age and her contract ending, that the natural result would be retirement. Especially since almost any other job would be seen as a demotion. You don't go from running LucasFilm to doing what she used to do back in the day. I think their is also some theories out their that she is being pushed out so Kevin Feige can takeover. I got my doubts on that one. Seems like he would go back to being spread thin with being in charge of both the MCU and Star Wars.

So what I am assuming is she is either embarrassed about all the talk and the idea she is being forced out so she is basically just being defiant and not wanting her detractors to be seen as getting some kind of victory so she is doing some major coping right now. Or she actually does want to keep making movies and since it's not like she will go back to doing what she use to, my best guess is she will be involved in getting independent films made. Instead of chasing big bucks for Disney, start chasing Oscar trophies with spearheading the types of movies that tend to get nominated and win. I can't really think of a third option.

It most certainly was not.
Well they definitely kept very quiet about it then. I guess you could say it was one of those passions that silently festers beneath the surface, or something.
Some people just felt that their own personal idea of what a solo Solo movie should be was better.
"Midgets are for Snow White or movies about rings", they were probably thinking.

For the most part, the movie itself was an entertaining 2 hours. Ehrenreich did a great job as young Han and the story was interesting.

What I didn’t need was the origin for everything Han. The dice, the gun, his name. I get him winning the Falcon is an important part of his story, and Donald Glover was perfect as Lando, so seeing how he and Han met was nice. But why did the Falcon have “a peculiar dialect?” Did we really need to know what led to that?

The movie to me played better on second viewing. I mean I didn't hate it the first time I saw it but it's just a fun adventure. It feels very much like Star Wars in spirit.

I really liked Solo, it was a lot of fun, and I thought the way they worked in the different origins for the things in Han's liked worked pretty well.

Except for the name backstory. The idea that some security guard gave Han Solo his name was really silly.
