Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Well we know one thing is almost sure and that is she will be gone by 2026. I think her contract ends in 2025, hence the main reason she is probably still their. Disney doesn't want to eat that money while also having to pay shits loads of money to the person who will replace her. It really does feel like they are right now just running out the clock. We will get The Mandalorain movie and season 2 of Andor and then their slate is clear for the next person. First thing to be axed will likely be the Rey movie. I am hoping this doesn't mean we won't get a season 3 of Andor. Everything I suppose is up in the air. But new people usually like to put their own stamp on things when taking over.

The hate against her is 90% unfounded.

There were some failures, some might have been her fault, but most of the non-movie projects have been good.

Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi/Empire, Clone Wars Season 7, Andor, Rogue One, TLJ, Solo, Skeleton Crew, Rebels, The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Visions,

There's also been a bunch of great novels and comics, but I'm not sure how much involvement she has there, that's probably handled mostly by publishing.

Sigh. To quote Threepio, "Here we go again..."

Or, we could - and this may be a shocking suggestion - each actually read the Kennedy interview, the longest she's given in at least a year, IIRC, and discuss the specific, new details she offered up. :p

For example, she says stuff like this: "A large part of it, Mike, is who is the talent we’re attaching? And that’s a challenge in and of itself these days because people get really busy. So you find yourself having to wait with a lot of the top talent doing streaming and movies now. [...] You have to accommodate top talent to a certain extent. And quality is so important with what it is we’re trying to do."

And "the top talent" making the next two post-Mandalorian & Grogu movies, according to her, are Simon Kinberg, the director of only two movies: X-Men: Dark Phoenix and the panned box office bomb The 355, and Shawn Levy, the director of a whoooole lot of very mediocre and blandly corporate flicks.

Not very inspiring.

Are you done?

My comment was actually against the dig by another poster towards TLJ. Like it, hate it, I don’t care. I’m fucking done relitigating it. No one is going to change opinions on it.

As for the films being referenced, I don’t particularly care. I’m not sure I have an interest in either film. I will likely see them but they don’t really interest me.

Hate is always unfounded when it comes to most things people complain about on the internet but that doesn't mean she has done a good job. Their have been some decent shows and a few okay movies but she did blow the big ones which was the trilogy which is the one thing you can't blow if you want to keep the brand strong. The Ob-Wan show failure was a big high profile mistake as well. What's worst is we have gotten to a place when even good shows like Andor and Skelton Crew can't get people to watch. Most people would have been fired long ago but I feel they were afraid of some culture war backlash.

The thing is it's not really even her fault. If someone keeps paying you tons of money to do whatever you want then that is more on Disney than her. She is also not even the only mistake. Firing Carano and Gunn over internet drama. While they brought him back to finish his Guardians trilogy he never got to be oversee the cosmic side of the MCU which was part of the brand. Something tells me the MCU might not have did better post Endgame if he was helping craft the Kang arch and multi-verse stuff. The hiring and firing of Bob Chapak and Victoria Alonso. Fired John Lasseter which hurt Pixar for awhile though they have managed to rebound from that recently. I am pretty sure firing Beau DeMayo will be the next mistake that bites them in the ass.

J.J. oversaw one great Trek film, a bad one and one that he didn't direct but was in some ways the best of the three. Sadly his Star Wars output doesn't match the quality of his Trek content.

I liked all of his Trek films. I think Force Awakens is also fun. Thing is if they could have gotten him to do all three SW sequel movies I think we might have seen the sequel trilogy play out better. On the surface he is perfect for Star Wars. Great at big high adventure spectacle. His Trek movies are some of the best SW movies made in recent times.

Some of those firings were for good reason

I have no interest any more in the Kennedy debate. Fans have treated her horribly just like they did Lucas.

She did a good job? A bad job? Why do I care?

It's not worth the head space to give up to someone who doesn't impact my life.

Well people got to have something to talk about on the internet. In the end that is what it all comes down to. Plus lets face it. It's more fun to complain about things than complement things.

We've complained about Kennedy for a while.W hy not be happy for a change? Try it for a while and if you don't like it you can always pick up the complaining habit again.

Well if Kennedy had been fired years ago, people wouldn't be talking about her anymore. Chances are we would be complaining about the new person. People can only react to what the news gives them. Unless the person was doing a good job then they would go find something else that is being screwed up to complain about. People will always chase the drama. Plus I do think people will be saying positive things soon as well. "Andor" season 2 looks like it will be great. Actually complaining is still better than people completely checking out. That is when you know your franchise is dead for good. When people can't even care enough to be angry anymore.

No. Dead is constant complaints and refusal to see the good.

But people have seen and talked about the good. The Mandalorian got praise, Andor got praise and so did Rogue One and the final season of Clone Wars. It's not been all negative. Skeleton Crew also got praise. Granted their have been some negative stuff to these things. Carano being fired, Leia and Tarkin CGI, Season 3 of Mandalorian, bad ratings for Andor and Skeleton Crew. But the good talk has outweighed the bad talk. People even use to like Force Awakens more, back when their was still hope for the sequel trilogy.

So why focus on Kennedy? Nothing better to do?

Can't talk about Andor or Skeleton Crew? Guess not.
