Not really. Hamill, Ford and Williams are still alive, and none were handled well in the awful ST, so I would not hope on anything of quality, even if a new series was not part of the Skywalker story.

No matter who becomes the next Lucasfilm president, the rabble will find an excuse to hate them. I'm just glad that the rabble will have nothing to do with making new Star Wars.

Not if they do a good job. Up until they start doing a bad job. Fandoms operate no different than sports fans and what you see in sports and how people love the head coach and star QB until they don't or until they realize they aren't going to be bringing home any championship for them. Also if your into sports chances are you probably already had this moment when you realize certain people had to go. As a OU Sooner fan, things were not so great in the 90's for the greatest college football program of all--time. Any Sooner fan remembers when it was time for Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger and John Blake to go. Some it was years and some figured it out almost instantly.

The internet just gives voice to attitudes that already existed for awhile. One big difference though is our franchises now are much bigger than they used to be ."Star Wars" use to be 3 good movies, a few bad cartoons and Ewok tv movies and books. The bigger a franchise becomes and the more content is made under that banner and that just invites more and more criticism and hyper focused attention on behind the scenes strategy and plotting. We fans now understand how the donuts are made more than we use to when it came to our favorite shows and movies so that also invites more criticism. Every bad fuckup Kennedy did was now known to the public where maybe in the past it was stuff people never knew about and if they did it would be from some tell all book like 30 years after the fact.
Yes, because everyone just loooovvvveed how Hamill, Ford and Williams' characters were treated in that awful Sequel trilogy. Mm-kay.
