Ice Age (animated films)

Admiral Jean-Luc Picard

Commodore

I recently revisited the original "Ice Age" film on Blu-ray, along with the short "Gone Nutty." I absolutely love the style of animation in these films. I only saw the first 3 films, related shorts, and the Christmas special. I'm revisiting those, because 4th film forward, first watch of everything. Any fans of this goofy animated saga?

I think I’ve only ever seen the first two. But mostly just wanted to mention that I saw on YouTube that they announced a sixth movie in the last few days. So if you enjoy them, sounds like you’ve got another one to look forward to.

I was wondering if you're talking about the 6th film that was a spin-off, focusing on some of the secondary characters from previous films. As it turns out, there's also going to be a 6th film in the main series, 7th film overall. Thank you for this. It won't be produced by Blue Sky Studios, though. :( I thought they lost the rights to Scrat, but it looks like he's back for the new film? Also, his kid from the miniseries will be in it, that's awesome.

Really?

I thoroughly enjoyed the third one but didn't realize that they were up to 6. Interesting.

The 6th movie will be produced by 20th Century Animated. But it is not clear which company will make the animations. 20th Century Animated does not make animations for the company. The animations are made by other companies. Also:

In 2020, Disney settled the trademark dispute by allowing Supersonic to sign an agreement in which she could keep her "Sqrat" trademark, and she sold T-shirts and other merchandise of the character.
They probably gave Disney the rights to use the character while the rights to Scrat remained with Supersonic.

I'm a huge Ice Age fan. I didn't think the last main series entry was all that great, but otherwise I've enjoyed all of the movies. I am excited that a new one is being made. I didn't think that would happen with the studio now being owned by Disney.

Blue Sky is now closed and is being produced by 20th Century Animated. But it has not been announced yet who is doing the animations for the film. 20th Century Animated has other companies do the drawings and computer animations for its films. Just like Marvel has other companies do the drawings and computer animations for its animated TV shows.
