If there's one thing that I miss about my previous marriage, it's that my ex really enjoyed going to the movies. My wife does not enjoy going to the theater and no matter what the movie, she tends to fall asleep thanks to the fancy/comfy chairs our nearby theaters have. I don't really have anyone else to go see movies with, as my kids are grown and doing their own things. I'll probably ask my son if he wants to go, with with a wife and small child, his time is pretty well taken up. First world problems, I know, but I really want to see this in a theater.
MARTHA²You ended up with AVENGERS 2-and-a-half and MARTHA 2 in their places.
The Marvels was a wonderful breath of breezy fun after the disappointment that was Quantumania. I'll always defend The Marvels as a story and a movie.OK. I'm throwing it down: I LOVED The Marvels. And when Kate Bishop showed up at the end it was the most thrilling after credits for me since Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man.
It's just not my thing. I've gone to movies by myself, but I just prefer to have company. My wife has a corn allergy, so I wouldn't need to share it with her. LOL.I have gone by myself several times. I prefer it to be honest. More popcorn and snacks for me and no one buzzing in my asking whats going on. I love going by myself.
And yet it still ended right behind "Captain America: The First Avenger"."Captain America: Brave New World" has the lowest CinemaScore in MCU history. Lower than "Eternals", "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "The Marvels".
MCU movies 3-day box office opening weekend adjusted for inflation:

You just answered your own question.your point in showing it in chart format?
And?
I mean, we knew this wasn’t doing as well, so what’s your point in showing it in chart format?
Which is kind of upside down from the traditional sequel format. It used to be that you made a sequel to try and make HALF of what your original hit made. And yet it still ended right behind "Captain America: The First Avenger".
Which is interesting.
Have you noticed the trend of many new Super Heroes "first Movie outing", doesn't do well compared to their later sequels for the "Opening Weekend".
Opening Weekend Box Office $ wise: these movies followed that trend
-> Ant Man < Ant Man & The Wasp
-> Captain America: The First Avenger < Captain America: The Winter Soldier < Captain America: Civil War
-> Iron Man < Iron Man 2 < Iron Man 3
-> Doctor Strange < Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness
-> Thor < Thor: The Dark World < Thor: Ragnarok
These movies are kind of wonky where one of the sequels did worse than the first movie:
-> Spider-Man: Far from Home < SpiderMan: Homecoming < Spider-Man No Way Home
-> Black Panther: Wakanda Forever < Black Panther
-> Avengers: The Age of Ultron < The Avengers < The Avengers: Infinity War < The Avengers: Endgame
-> The Marvels < Captain Marvel
-> Guardians of the Galaxy 3 < Guardians of the Galaxy < Guardians of the Galaxy 2
That just means that Marvel Studios & the MCU managed to change things dramatically.Which is kind of upside down from the traditional sequel format. It used to be that you made a sequel to try and make HALF of what your original hit made.
That just shows you how much more of a Box Office Draw it is if you bring in other Heroes.Civil War (as has been mentioned previously) doesn't really fit: Not only is it a Captain America movie but it's got Iron Man AND SPIDER-MAN!!! (I can't tell which is my favorite location card in a movie: It's either SPACE from Infinity War or QUEENS from Civil War.)
But from a Studio Perspective, they must be "Super Happy".It's an unjust world where Iron Man 2 and Ant-Man 3 made more money than their predecessors.
That was hilarious.Tallguy said:It's either SPACE from Infinity War
I want to show that it's not the evil anti-MCU/anti-Disney media who is out for Captain America, as some here have asserted.
Admiral Kirk: "It's his way."And?

Oh crap, you're right, I forgot about Civil War, and not because I thought it was an Avengers movie, I just forgot about it.This is #4.
I never noticed that, but you're right. If Howard Stark is Dominic Cooper it's a Captain America movie (Cap 1, 2, and Agent Carter). If he's John Slattery it's an Iron Man story.
