"Captain America: Brave New World" has the lowest CinemaScore in MCU history. Lower than "Eternals", "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "The Marvels".

If there's one thing that I miss about my previous marriage, it's that my ex really enjoyed going to the movies. My wife does not enjoy going to the theater and no matter what the movie, she tends to fall asleep thanks to the fancy/comfy chairs our nearby theaters have. I don't really have anyone else to go see movies with, as my kids are grown and doing their own things. I'll probably ask my son if he wants to go, with with a wife and small child, his time is pretty well taken up. First world problems, I know, but I really want to see this in a theater.

I have gone by myself several times. I prefer it to be honest. More popcorn and snacks for me and no one buzzing in my asking whats going on. I love going by myself.

OK. I'm throwing it down: I LOVED The Marvels. And when Kate Bishop showed up at the end it was the most thrilling after credits for me since Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man.
The Marvels was a wonderful breath of breezy fun after the disappointment that was Quantumania. I'll always defend The Marvels as a story and a movie.

It's just not my thing. I've gone to movies by myself, but I just prefer to have company. My wife has a corn allergy, so I wouldn't need to share it with her. LOL.

"Captain America: Brave New World" has the lowest CinemaScore in MCU history. Lower than "Eternals", "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" and "The Marvels".
And yet it still ended right behind "Captain America: The First Avenger".

Which is interesting.

Have you noticed the trend of many new Super Heroes "First Movie outing", doesn't do well compared to their later sequels for the "3-Day Opening Weekend".

Opening Weekend Box Office $ wise: (these movies followed that trend)
-> Ant Man < Ant Man & The Wasp
-> Captain America: The First Avenger < Captain America: The Winter Soldier < Captain America: Civil War
-> Iron Man < Iron Man 2 < Iron Man 3
-> Doctor Strange < Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness
-> Thor < Thor: The Dark World < Thor: Ragnarok

These movies are kind of wonky where one of the sequels did worse than the first movie:
-> Spider-Man: Far from Home < SpiderMan: Homecoming < Spider-Man No Way Home
-> Black Panther: Wakanda Forever < Black Panther
-> Avengers: The Age of Ultron < The Avengers < The Avengers: Infinity War < The Avengers: Endgame
-> The Marvels < Captain Marvel
-> Guardians of the Galaxy 3 < Guardians of the Galaxy < Guardians of the Galaxy 2

3-Day Box Office Draws near the bottom:
Ant-Man
The Incredible Hulk
Eternals
Shang-Chi
Captain America: Brave New World
Captain America: The First Avenger
Thor
Black Widow
Doctor Strange

All of these movies were the "First Movies" focused on a Solo Super Hero in their own outing where they're the main character and generally considered "New".
Yet all of them are near the bottom of the 3-Day Box Office performance rung.

And?

I mean, we knew this wasn’t doing as well, so what’s your point in showing it in chart format?

I want to show that it's not the evil anti-MCU/anti-Disney media who is out for Captain America, as some here have asserted.

Which is kind of upside down from the traditional sequel format. It used to be that you made a sequel to try and make HALF of what your original hit made.

Civil War (as has been mentioned previously) doesn't really fit: Not only is it a Captain America movie but it's got Iron Man AND SPIDER-MAN!!! (I can't tell which is my favorite location card in a movie: It's either SPACE from Infinity War or QUEENS from Civil War.)

It's an unjust world where Iron Man 2 and Ant-Man 3 made more money than their predecessors.

That just means that Marvel Studios & the MCU managed to change things dramatically.

That just shows you how much more of a Box Office Draw it is if you bring in other Heroes.

It's an unjust world where Iron Man 2 and Ant-Man 3 made more money than their predecessors.
But from a Studio Perspective, they must be "Super Happy".

Frankly, with the exception of the Avengers movies themselves, I’m done with watching Marvel movies in the theater. It doesn’t mean that I am not interested, I just have too much going on and too many expenses to give the mouse my money when I’m already paying for Disney+. I just watched Agatha All Along while I was down with the flu and my wife and I have barely started What If? Season 3. I just have too many distractions than trying to keep up with the MCU on day one like I did a decade ago.

Honestly, I’m betting I’m not the only one who has that general story,

I just find it amusing that people announce in multiple threads (sometimes multiple times!) that they're not watching this film in theaters or that show at all or something else.

It's just a big "So what? Thank you you for keeping us in the loop...?"

I know  why that happens but it's still funny.
