30th/31st century ships seemed to employ a bigger on the inside design philosophy. Maybe the 32nd century refit/cover up into the A installed this.

Yeah not likely I know

Yeah, the DMZ is even labeled on the galactic map in Admiral Clancy's office in Picard S1, despite the fact that map also has Cardassia within Federation borders. For some reason, the graphics people do not want to remove the DMZ from the star maps.
It's not there on the SNW maps. At least, I think we've seen maps in SNW of that side of Fed space.

I wish I could find the tweet, but someone did try and measure the Discovery Season 2 turbolift shaft scene, and they said it could just barely fit within Discovery. There's also a cutaway of the ship from the Season 2 artbook that shows a big empty space that's probably meant to be it.

Season 3's however, yeah that one is way too big, and the one in Q&A Short Trek.

Season 3's I can handwave because we know from Enterprise that they have TARDIS tech by that century.

Gotta love how the 2324 Era star map in this movie shows a Demilitarized Zone between the Federation and the Cardassian Union that won't exist for another 46 years.
It also shows a Starbase well outside of the boundaries of the Federation. Such good attention to detail in all departments on this turkey.

Let me tell you something, I just watched Gladiator II, and that movie had multiple things that were 10x dumber than antlything in the S31 movie.

Including filling the Coliseum with water for a naval battle (water tight coliseum?) and putting multiple Great White sharks in there?

Not to mention letting the protagonist ride unchallenged thru 6,000 enemy soldiers to catch up to Denzel so he can go 1 v 1 with him.

So bad.

I recently finished rewatching all the older Trek and there is some really bad stuff in there. Section 31 is not a good movie, but I'd rank it above things like:

The Alternative Factor, And the Children Shall Lead, Code of Honor, The Outrageous Okona, Shades of Gray, The Host, Cost of Living, Homeward, Masks, Profit and Lace, The Emperor's New Cloak, Cold Fire, Coda, Darkling, Dear Doctor, Fusion, Two Days and Two Nights, Ephraim and Dot, First Con-tact and honestly, I'm kind of leaning towards Final Frontier being worse as well.

Can I add Into Darkness and maybe Nemesis as well?

I gave it an 8. It was OK as a pilot but I admit the odds of there being other offerings from this segment of the brand are rare.
What I liked
  • The Section 31 ensemble team was interesting.
  • The background on Georgio
  • A peek at “regular life” in the Terran Empire
  • The reveal on who played Control

What could have been better
  • Pace of the story could have been faster. It dragged at points.
  • Would have liked better space battle stuff but that would have required them to have more than a garbage scow.
  • I didn’t really get the whole Hunger Games approach to picking the next Emperor. I guess I thought it would have been hereditary???

I actually have a fair amount of fondness for Into Darkness. It's got some dumb stuff I don't like (CumberKhan, Spock vs. Khan fight, Khan yell repeat, superblood) but I also quite a bit I do (fantastic visuals, Peter Weller hamming it up, Kirk and Spock's falling out, the emotional hit of Pike's death, and a bunch of little background stuff like the Klingon design), and it has Section 31 being what I'd want them to be compared to this movie.
