Now I've gotta go rent Ben-Hur. Or buy it. About time I bought it, I suppose.

A couple of months ago I looked him up on IMDB and was surprised he was still alive, actually.

    Very sad news. :(

I loved him in The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur but most especially in Planet of the Apes. He will be missed.

    Rest in peace, Charleton Heston.

Great actor but down a few pegs with all that NRA nonsense.

    RIP Mr. Heston

    FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

That's not a joke, when he did that it was kick ass!

And he was married for 64 years, wow, what a great life.

Rest in peace, Mr. Heston. :(

I'm no fan of the NRA or any gun movement, but I had great respect for him as a legendary Hollywood actor.

Somewhere out there, Anthony Zerbe can sleep in peace. ;)

    Heston was cool.

He warned us of the dangers of talking apes, food made from people, skyjackings, albino mutants, and worshipping golden calves. :p

Rest in peace, Mr. Heston. You will be missed. :(

I was just watching him in The Ten Commandments last week. Was a big fan of his sci-fi movies in the seventies. Great presence on the screen.

Time to go pry that gun out of his cold, dead hands.

I didn't agree with his politics, but there's no denying his incredible contribution to film. He will be sorely missed.

    R.I.P. Mr. Heston.

To be fair to Heston, his 'politics' included support for the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s.

Since he once played Mark Antony onscreen, I think those who disliked Heston's later conservatism should keep in mind the following lines from Julius Caesar:

    "The evil that men do lives after them;
the good is oft interred with their bones."

Hopefully, he's now enjoying a Sunday drive through the deserted city in the sky, behind the wheel of a big red early-70s convertible, chilling to the 'Theme from 'A Summer Place.'"

(With only an occasional pause to machine-gun albino post-apocalyptic mutants)

RIP, Mr. Heston. I enjoyed your work.

^True. It's more his almost fanatical gun advocacy that I refer to. But let's not derail the thread with political debate.

I just read about this on Yahoo a few minutes ago. It's still kind of hard to believe. RIP, Mr. Heston.
