The Interiors look ENORMOUS. Compared to TMP. It will have to have extensive restructuring. Don't think they wouldn't do it. Because they would.
Yeah lets be honest, they'd probably change the whole damn thing if they wanted to make a show in that era. Longer nacelles, curving struts, new bridge dome to accommodate the gigantic bridge window, fatter impulse engines etc etc. All new interior sets that "homage" the original should be a given by now, it's just what they do.

Early on, I had this niggling fear that the appearance of the Enterprise-C in S31 would be a brand new visual headache for everyone, but we were spared that fate. (We suffered in other ways)

It doesn't matter what WE think looks good, it's what they think looks good. If they think our favourite ships look outdated and ugly, they would change them.

The Entperise C was in Section 31?

Weird, I just saw that Trek Central posted this image and was immediately reminded of the refit-reboot discussion. I think the struts have a little curve too.

'"The Fat One"

Though, they brought back The D well.
True, it was beautiful. One-offs are apparently ok.

That goes with the idea that Alok was originally Ash Tyler, and Rachel Garrett was either not in this or some other character entirely. It wouldn't surprise me if the Garrett role was originally supposed to be the Deltan that got killed early, since it seemed odd to introduce a supporting character and kill her off not long after
That's a good one. What if the legacy character we've seen before was supposed to be... Ilia? Sure, it wouldn't completely make sense she'd be stuck as a lieutenant for so long, but this is S31 after all😂.

You're right, the refit does have some pretty big spaces that absolutely wouldn't fit in the TOS Enterprise.

And thought it wasn't seen on screen, she's even supposed to have her own little park.

The thing is the SNW enterprise is bigger than the TOS ENTERPRISE. At least TMP was after TOS and the larger size makes sense because of the refit. The SNW enterprise somehow shrinks to the TOS size in 7 more years. Lol.

That's not completely unbelievable, actually. Ensign Ilia, maybe? I have no idea how Deltans age.

But Discovery has stardates in the 1000s too (episode 1 of Discovery, "The Vulcan Hello," occurs on 1207.3, which Michael states to be Sunday May 11, 2256). The old Deltan Death Trick. Cast a Deltan for a TV show that gets turned into a movie and then kill her.

Why? I don't think we have the actual specs on it. Maybe a ship guy like @HotRod knows.
The closest we ever got to the size of the Enterprise being established in TOS was a display on a monitor that showed the ship in relation to a D7. There was a small scale in the corner that was 100% non-legible on the television.

Beyond that, there has been absolutely nothing canonically shown on screen that shows the size of the ship.

The size of the ship has been a debate since the beginning of the franchise. Especially since they showed a shuttlebay that could not fit within the often mentioned size of 289m.

The refit has been said to be 305m in length, but that has also never been shown on screen. That size has even more issues with things that were shown in TMP. Things like the massive Cargo bay/Shuttlebay complex, as well as the recreation deck, simply don't fit inside a 305m ship. Even the TMP Directors Edition, with updated VFX show show a size that simply doesn't work. The scene of the landing party on the top of the saucer makes this incredibly obvious.

SNW has fixed this situation by bumping the size up to a respectable 442m. A size that solves most issues and even matches a MSD of a Constitution Class that was shown in "In A Mirror Darkly" that depicted a ship of over 400m in length.
