Shes there in the bridge before tpring is even on screen. After spock and tpring exchange their loving greeting and Uhura asks who she is Spock says Tpring my wife and chapel has a startled look and than turns head left to where mccoy is standing continuing to look shocked. She clearly was there for the entire exchange and gave a stsrtled abd shocked look when spock mentionrd tpring was his wife.
Well, she's wasn't his wife in SNW. So yeah, finding out she was his wife might be a shock. Of course Spock later backtracks on the whole wife thing anyway, placing things in a gray area between fiancée and wife. T'Pring choses challenge over marriage and well, we all know the rest.

These lines of dialogue always bugged me.

MENDEZ: You ever met Chris Pike?
KIRK: When he was promoted to Fleet Captain.
MENDEZ: About your age. Big, handsome man, vital, active.
KIRK: I took over the Enterprise from him.

Why is Mendez describing Pike to Kirk, after Kirk already answered that they had met? But the most perplexing is his "about your age". So, Pike is supposed to be in his mid 30s like Kirk, thus would have been in his early 20s during the events "The Cage"?

I always assumed this was just a byproduct of Gene doing a lot of patch work with the pilot with what TOS was by the time that episode was developed. Bits like this just flew by because he was on a tight schedule.
Mendez has to be an illusion at that point. Probably tasked to a Talosian intern. ;)

When she walks on the Bridge as they are speaking with Vulcan Central, she says "What's going on?" and is quicly Shssed by McCoy...
Which is exactly what happen. In other words yeah, I know she was there before T'Pring appeared on the screen and witnessed the entire exchange.

And in the preview above they have the reaction shot of both Nurse Chapel and McCoy it's quick but there. I would argue Nurse Chapel is more surprised by Spock's statement of "My wife." and while SNW hasn't ended yet, for all we know, the last thing Chapel knew was Spock and T'Pring had called off the wedding - so yeah, why is he saying she's his wife now? And no she doesn't know everything regarding Vulcans because again unless something happens during the remainder of SNW - I don't think Spock told ANYONE the particulars about Vulcan Pon Far - but IMO no her reaction doesn't appear out of character given what we've seen on SNW to date.)

Christine probably knew more about Sybok than she did T'Pring, and even with the former Spock only mentioned Sybok because he felt like he had to.

It does not fit. Unless spock does a "forget" mind meld on her it makes no sense. Chapel is nothing like her SNW self on TOS. Exceot for maybe the naked now when chapel had been affected by a virus she does not act like a person whos had a relationship with spock previously and spock barely acknowledges her presence most times. We'll see what happens in season 3 when she meets her future abdroid fiance. Maybe it will more sense but I doubt the writers are going to let this romance go.

The more I looked at this, the more I realize it looked very familiar.

Chapel in TOS was a cardboard cut out. No reason for the character to continue to be. It's an upgrade. And good thing for Star Trek.

Working with an Ex is tricky in real life. I've done it and it's a delicate dance. I can see them keeping it "professional" and avoiding the awkward.

Honestly it never made sense for pike to be about kirk’s age but commanding the enterprise ten years earlier, especially since Kirk was supposed to be already very young to be captain.

And that's a fundamental flaw in the show design IMO.

The Ensemble Cast allows the writer ALOT more flexibility instead of having the show revolve around one character.

If a person doesn't like 1 character, for whatever reason, the next episode will focus on another character.

That's the beauty of the Ensemble Cast structure.

They went too deep on focusing on 1x Character as the lead and have the entire story world revolve around them.

In the future, the entire Ensemble Cast should be focused on.

TNG/DS9 got it right IMO.

Focus on a LARGE wide varied cast.

You can only do so much with ten eps per season.

It's not like the 80's-90's where the writers had to make their order of 26 episodes (And even back then, characters got underwritten. Look at Harry Kim, La Forge, and Mayweather.)

And how many times does a coworker you're close to openly acknowledge something in front of all your fellow coworkers and friends? Sure, you used to be romantically involved with them but unless they're of a complete blabbermouth personality why would they bring up every little factoid about what you and they did, say, eight years earlier?

AND IN THE WORKPLACE??

There's nothing to match because outside of Garrett, who's not in a Starfleet Uniform, Starfleet is nowhere to be seen. They can make it look however they want. If we saw the Federation proper, or the Klingons, or the Romulans, or the Cardassians, or anything like that, then you'd have a point.
There is a Cardie in the background, and there are supposed to be Klingons in it

Yes, it's stated in the movie. It's been 2-1/2 years since Kirk logged a single star hour aboard the Enterprise. It's right there in the film. Chekov still basically looks the same, only he's now a Lieutenant. All of this has been in the movie itself since December of 1979.
He always logged out after 55 min ;)

Say what you will about the movie, but they didn't skimp in the make-up department.

That's the Vaadwaur that was on IMDB long before it came out :D

Also this one could be one of those...

I think fans looking at these crews as knowing each other on a deep personal level is a byproduct of so many of these shows espousing "we're not just a crew, we're a family!" As a result fans just conflate how close these people actually are. I don't see Uhura, Scotty, Chekov, Sulu, or Chapel as being close friends with Kirk, but rather they're loyal to him.

We need to push Hollywood to move to a new paradigm of splitting the Broadcast/Streaming Show Airing year into Trimesters.

10 eps per season is too short.

26 eps per season is too much.

One Year is 52 weeks.
Take 1 week off for New Years.
That leaves 51 weeks per year.

Split the Broadcast/Release Year into Trimesters with 17 weeks per Trimester.
You can even label it as:
- Trimester 1 = Winter > Spring
- Trimester 2 = Spring > Summer
- Trimester 3 = Autumn > Winter

17 eps a season order would allow for better character development in a ensemble cast while allowing more satisfaction.

With 1 "Actual Hour" of Episode content, then you add in (Previously On __ segment, Prologue Segment, Show Opening Sequence, <Main Show Content>, Show Ending Sequence, Epilogue Segment, Next Time Segment)
You'd have just enough time for 1.5 hrs with room for commercials on traditional Broadcast TV and still fit streaming.

And Add in 2 "Actual Hours" of Episode content for Season Opening/Ending.

That would be the real "Goldilocks" zone for a New Hybrid TV/Streaming model IMO.

Then split the BroadCast/Streaming year into 3 Trimester BroadCast Season Sections for the audience to enjoy.

Seasons were only longer due to wanting to build up a syndication package to sell to affiliates down the line. That's not really a priority anymore because streaming is a completely different system. Broadcasting NEEDS content to air at all times, whereas streaming is just an on demand function.
