I'm glad to know the special effects people working on the TMP-DE were thinking ahead, even if the suits at Paramount weren't.

Well, in this digital clean up, I certainly hope that Generations gets a better print this time. The SE DVD release was very digital looking. Some pixelation during the "Kirk death" planet sequences...amongst other things.

Long ago, someone designed a TMP DVD liner (that could be downloaded and printed) that matched the other films in the series. I.e., it had a silver background instead of orange-yellow. I imagine that it's been done more than once, in fact. Does anybody have a link?

Really? I printed it out a few years ago and remember it being perfect. I had to use larger paper for it, if I'm not mistaken, because it's meant for a case that holds 2 DVDs, but the dimensions were right on.

I tried as best I could to enlarge the image. I chose borderless printing, I rotated the image sideways 90 degrees, but it still doesn't reach all the way across the DVD case when I try to make it fit (using the spine as a reference). I don't understand what the problem is.
You mentioned using a bigger piece of paper. Is that absolutely necessary? I don't think my printer will let me do that. And even if it did, I'm not sure how I'd make it work in software (I don't see any option in the printer driver to use larger paper).

Well they can, or could have, but they are NOT.
They are restoring all the movies as they do with ALL major hidef releases.
Because you saw a HD version of a movie on TV & itlooks okay doesn't mean they're just going to dump in onto Blu-ray. The hardware is very expensive, the discs are very expensive and the early adopters want to see prints as near to perfect, as possible.
It'll be 2009, unless we're very lucky, and they'll have their clean-up.
Well, I am glad to be able to say thank you to someone who uploaded the covers I've enjoyed.
Could the problem also be the software used to make a DVD cover? Perhaps if you tried a different program. I've had some that adjust whatever picture to a template. I'd share it with you but my computer crashed a month or so ago & I lost everything.
I hate to to break it to you but your wrong.
not ALL movies released in HD/Blu Ray are restored before hand. It takes an incredible expense to do that and not every movie gets that treatment.
If you really knew what you were talking about you would have realized that.
