Yeah, his actually explains why the casting was bad: making a character notice the resemblance in-universe was stupid.Read @Tosk ’s post. Perhaps he explained it better than I did.

Better left unsaid. Great Aunt, cousin, granny...whatever is lame.It possibly wouldn’t have been stupid if the producers actually had an in-universe reason why that was. But they didn’t. Just like how Raffi thought she saw Elnor but was instead some Mexican dude who looked exactly like him, but without pointy ears. They didn’t bother to explain that either.
Do we really have any reason to doubt Q in this instance? I mean, I don't have enough time, patience, alcohol or weed to go through Picard season 2 again, but this conversation made me look up Tallinn's entry on Memory Alpha, and what they say there...It got Orla Brady killed. And the only person we've got to believe she'd die in any time is Q. It's not as though no harm came from his meddling.
"Q later told Jean-Luc Picard that Tallinn was destined to die in every timeline, but Picard's intervention meant that she at least got to meet Renee in this one.
Didn't he lie about pretty much everything that season?I know the people of Brax call him the "God of Lies", but why would he lie about this? To what end?
When it was revealed the character was also Romulan, Picard speculates she might be Laris's ancestor, which is as close to an explanation as we're likely to get.Technically, it got that person who looked like Laris killed. But who cares? That person wasn’t Laris; she only looked exactly like her for reasons which the producers didn’t bother to give us, because they didn’t fucking know themselves.
There was also COVID protocols limiting how many actors they could have on set, so they doubled up some of the actors with another role.Do we need a reason other than they liked the actor?
I don't trust Q. He's a dick who would rather obfuscate than teach. His presence is an irritant, supposedly overcome by the actor's charm yet fails to be additive except on rare occasions when he decides to actually give a damn.Didn't he lie about pretty much everything that season?
The logic of that assumption makes no sense to me. "We can only have seven actors on set today, so let's make sure one of them was also in season one..."?There was also COVID protocols limiting how many actors they could have on set, so they doubled up some of the actors with another role.
Potentially, though this could be pure bs on my part, it was easier to get Bradley up to speed on CBS specific protocols for COVID due to an established working relationship. The logic of that assumption makes no sense to me. "We can only have seven actors on set today, so let's make sure one of them was also in season one..."?
I understand that. My post wasn't clear. My point was that Soong murdered Tallinn and got away with it. He was put up to that by Q.Orla Brady is the actor. Technically, it got that person who looked like Laris killed. But who cares? That person wasn’t Laris; she only looked exactly like her for reasons which the producers didn’t bother to give us, because they didn’t fucking know themselves.
Actually it was more a case of "this actor is in the season anyway, let's have them play another role to cut down on how many are involved this year." Same reason why they had Isa Briones also play Soong's daughter. Doctor Who did something similar in its COVID season. The logic of that assumption makes no sense to me. "We can only have seven actors on set today, so let's make sure one of them was also in season one..."?
Could someone help explain why this was necessary? I can just about accept Q needed Picard to live through the early 21st century again in order to have Picard reevaluate his prejudices about the Borg queen and so make other choices but I don't understand the necessity of making Adam Soong a murderer.
