Rob Shearman is turning 'Jubilee' into a novel

"A brand new, radical reinterpretation" to boot. I'm guessing it'll drop Sixie and Evelyn in favour of a New Series Doctor and Companion. Out in October.

I’m not a massive fan of Six but as the story is on BF’s Spotify list, the premise is intriguing enough for me to give it a listen.

Beyond featuring a Dalek being kept prisoner and tortured there's no story similarity between the two.

There's a bit more - Dalek manipulates companion via sympathy, the first "Doctor would make a good Dalek" argument and the Dalek being lost without orders. You can also argue the "humans are as bad as Daleks" angle with Van Statten and his Dalek torturer.

But no, the broader themes aren't present.

I’ve started the audio novel and rewatched Dalek today (felt old at the realisation that the Eccleston era will be 20 years old in 2 months!) and would have to agree, there’s not a lot beyond the central concept of a prisoner Dalek which is being tortured.

Big Finish are selling limited edition versions of these two books.

Despite using the original cover art* for 'Jubilee' I'm still convinced it won't be the 6th Doctor in the book. The blurb for 'Chimes of Midnight' explicitly says it's 8 & Charlie but for the other it doesn't specify the Doctor or companion.

*Edit: Just spotted it actually says Not Final Artwork for the cover.

Edit 2: And... sold out within a couple of hours.
