The STO ships are nothing more than derivative crap based on previous, far better designs.

For me, the nadir of good starship design was the TNG era and the Galaxy class family, including the Ambassador class. Anything designed by Probert, Sternbach, Miarecki, and Jim Martin (mainly the Defiant) I tend to like. I wish there were more Galaxy and Ambassador variants than what we ended up seeing on screen. By the time of FC, ENT, and CBSTrek, my enthusiasm for new ship designs has waned, mainly because in my judgment, the people currently designing stuff simply don’t have the same level of creativity that those other people had.

Based on context, I'm assuming nadir wasn't actually the word you meant to use? (I'll admit I was pretty confused at first for much of the post. )

Yeah, I meant to say peak, not nadir. It’s only the exact opposite of what I meant, right?

Meh, I don't feel that just taking the front end of a 200 year-old ENT era D5 and sticking it on a contemporary 23rd/24th century BoP somehow makes the design any better or justifies the ridiculous upscaling done to the model.

And it's still not accurate to what we saw in the show, which had a unique bi-wing architecture that looks like they just stacked components of one BoP on top of another, slightly re-sized. Like the effort, but it's not like it'd be mistaken for what we saw in the episode.

Also, the "K'Vort" nomenclature was only ever used in one episode to describe BoPs from an alternate history. Unless it's retroactively named for this guy.

Apparently that variant is also available in STO.

There was a display in an episode of DS9 which showed the name along with a BoP silhouette. So it does exist in the prime universe.

For the latest episode, the USS Griffin appears to be a Constitution-class ship, Alvarez (NCC-1701/13) is a Stamets-type shuttle, and we have a new starship type, the Thorn-type, which is represented by the USS Thorn. There is a reference in Rose Harper's bio to the USS Exeter (NCC-1672).
