Spoilers ST Lower Decks - Starships & Technology Season 5 Discussion

Yes! Which is why the bridge laughter was forced, as it was on the Discovery bridge when Tilly blurted out the same. :)

...And whaddya know, the E-E in LDS does have a bump atop Deck 3 Aft where the Nemesis launcher should be. It's not the obvious pimple that the launcher is, but it's absolutely not the smooth FC upper deck that was first there. Artistic license aside, what could we be looking at, if we insisted it was a thing? removed launcher but remaining superstructure? Retractable launcher?

Just checking but is this the launcher (in red) that was added in Nemesis?

I wonder if Starfleet used the post-Nemesis refit to pull some of the likely Dominion War era weapons off the USS Enterprise-E?

The little space where the Nemesis launchers was placed seems to be a sort of docking deck, with three docking ports where travel pods or something could hook up. That seems to be an odd placement, since we don't SEE any shuttle-sized craft with the TMP-era docking collars.

We didn’t see any Travel Pod-style small craft in the TNG era, but we saw plenty of docking collars for them on large ships, like the -D and Voyager. And the collars have made their return on small ships with the Discovery and Picard shuttles, so we can imagine they were always around somewhere.

That’s the one. Some torpedos came from around there in INS, but there was no corresponding detail on that version of the model.

The whole 'nacelles must be in pairs' nonsense was because Roddenberry wanted to invalidate Franz Joseph's tech manual for money reasons. Michael Okuda, probably knowing nothing of this, went with Gene's stance and declared that the reason why you can have Galaxy class nacelles as singles as well as pairs is because each nacelle contains two warp coils
I just guessed at that since there looked like two lights in each.

I think three in Sovereigns?

I think three in Sovereigns?

Only on the MSDs and Fact Files cutaways. They aren't visible on the models, which use an opaque swirling cloud animation (put on in compositing on the physical model) that hides any light sources.

The PIC version of the -D has three lights in the nacelles. I always assumed there being two lights visible in the TNG model was just a functional thing because the housing was wide and one light wouldn't be bright enough, I never tied it in with the handwave about the AGT version of the ship actually having six warp engines crammed into three nacelles so it was an even number.

The first PIC D nacelles were in a dream, the second ones were from the Syracuse, which could've had 3 ;)
I wonder how many there were on the hologram we see in PIC 102. Not that it matters, that thing had shuttlebays 2 and 3 the same size so I ain't listening to a word it says. ;)

Finally getting caught up - I love the big-ass Bird of Prey! That is what they should have done decades ago instead of just reusing the BoP model with no updates for a bigger ship.

The problem with that idea is that half the time we saw the BoP in TNG, it was stock footage from STIII. So they wouldn’t have made any changes to the model because then it wouldn’t have looked consistent with the old footage when they filmed new shots of it. And by the time they started filming fully new shots, they had built the Vor’cha model, so there was no need to alter the BoP after that. Plus they were still using the BoP for the films, so they didn’t want to alter it for that reason either.

That's like 95% of the argument basis on this forum. Which are then raked over the hot coals of canon / non-canon / headcanon / actual cannons in a debate that WILL NEVER END.

All that in mind, were we able to clock the different Klingon bridges in use in 5x10? We had at least two color schemes but the bridges were mostly the same.

Thankfully, there are two versions of the BoP, both of different sizes.

And they genuinely look different from each other and isn't just a cheap scaled up version of the model!

That's the part that I'm happiest about.

Yeah, I think that was B.J.’s point. It would have been nice if a larger Klingon ship had been built during the start of TNG so that they didn’t have to scale up the relatively small BoP to ridiculous proportions.

The TrekYards Duo are back again!

Nope. Before, they were simply annoying. Then they wished death upon a someone, simply because he made something they didn't like. No coming back being that level of asshole.
Okay. I guess you hold grudges against random online YT personalities for one mean thing they say online compared to the rest of their long life.

I'm sure your're a perfect saint who has NEVER, EVER, said ANY mean things or EVER wished bad things on another person (IRL or Online) in your long, long life.

But hey whatever, that's your perogative. You do you!

Apparently you're a perfect person & saint who has "never done anything wrong", EVER, in your long life and needs no forgive-ness from anybody else, right?

You're the perfect judge of a random YT personality for one mean thing they said on some random video.

You go on judging him into eternity, because I'm sure you're the right person to judge him by since you're "Sooo Perfect, right?"
