Gary Mitchell Lives!

It's a neat vid. I'm not sure what's actually going on in it? At first I thought, since it's a Generations 30th anniversary tribute, it was more of Kirk's experiences in the the Nexus. Some scenes make sense in that context. Others? Gary Mitchell as the burgeoning god isn't exactly a memory that wraps Kirk in joy. There's a press release that says it touches on elements from Ashes of Eden, but that was mostly a normal adventure - a 7th TOS movie - with a Spock on Viridian framing sequence. The weird shit didn't start going down until The Return. Then the Spock in bed scene makes me think we're at his offscreen demise mentioned in Beyond.

It's left open to interpretation on purpose. I don't think it is in the Nexus but Gary used what was left of his god like abilities to bring Kirk out and to Saavik and her son to meet Yor, a time traveler, and move in to the Kelvin Universe to be with Spock before he passes away.

But, others can offer their own interpretations.

Yeah the exact nature of Gary's involvement is unclear and Kirk meeting himself on the way has shades of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Possibly some sort of time corridor shenanigans, possibly because he is a nexus echo made flesh using Kirk's real body last seen in Picard? The general gist is clear though. Kirk is resurrected in the current era and is transported across time and parallel dimensions to be with Spock on his deathbed.
