Edge of Midnight Base Map - Work in Progress

And it often *is* fun!

Related question: does anyone know of any five-star systems within 200 ly of Sol?

You might want to ask the folks at the Cosmoquest Forum.

All I could find

That’s 250 ly out

I think I remember reading about that first instance. At least one of the stars is AKA V442 Ursae Majoris, and when I looked into it via gruze.org's searchable 6 kpc map, it turned out to be too far rimward for me.

That said, thanks much!

Here's a tentative pick for "Beta Antares":

Very noice (Borat voice)

For those who remember the Bridge Commander video game, btw - I generally treat the Maelstrom as synonymous with the Arachnid Nebula. The game uses multiple locations, some wildly spaced.

Most notably, Cebelrai, which is a LONG way from everywhere else - and Alioth, treated as semi Cardassian-held.

It also has the first world called Nepenthe, long before Picard season 1, curiously enough.
And the Kessok, who I generally assume have settled somewhere along the general Breen borders.

Hmm - what's with Qualor and Barradus? Two planets that have had some ambiguous, but generally Romulan proximate placements, in the past.

Also, Berengaria probably is not too far from that side of the map, too, given Enterprise series related retcons of it.

Finally - Thor's Twins... has that been established in a particular source? (sounds neat)
Nice to get the Ushilev Nebula from Among the Clans in there, too.

A proposed configuration for the Delta Triangle from "The Time Trap". Open to alternative candidates for the other two vertices, so long as they're close to the established X-Y coordinates...

A side view of that, where it looks like a three-side pyramid “pointing” to a rogue body in the Z axis might be interesting

Very nice. Wonder also what the Rhomboid Dronegar sector looks like (if it is comparably geometric...)

And to recap - have Qualor and Barradas changed locations, recently? (usually assumed near the Romulan Neutral Zone, and Rator)

The RNZ border is still where I've got Qualor and Barradas, I thought. Trying to keep everything consistent across four (or five?) maps is difficult, though it shouldn't be impossible.

Rhomboid Dronegar sector looks the same as most sectors in our region of the Orion Spur, I believe.

My apologies - the lack of visible borders sometimes throws me off a bit!

As for Dronegar - well, it sounds like they were going for a particular geometric, perhaps rhombic shape... but only the episode writer really knows what he was thinking there.

Memory Alpha suggests a link to Sector 006, but that is likely coincidental - as I described in my Sector Directory project, sectors can be abbreviated numerically in many ways, and it's likely many sound similar as a result.

If I can get a handle on Blender, I'd try my hand at that.

Meantime, I'm taking a look at adding in the Azlesa Expanse and several nebulae from Star Trek Online into the picture. An idea that's starting to take hold since last night is the idea that "Azlesa Expanse" is the popular Klingon name for what we're calling either Alessi 13 or the Chi-1 Fornacis Cluster (or is it a Moving Group?)...

Any thoughts on the matter?

It’s the Hyades that interest me…perhaps as a starting point for the black hole that flung V’ger….all used as some thoroughfare…

The Murasaki “mini-quasar”…that I like:

It also plays well with this:
