Chris Wood & Melissa Benoist To Star In ‘Duo’ Drama In Works At NBC With Rina Mimoun As Showrunner

In Duo, when a soft-spoken, blue-collar worker (Wood) and a magnetic performer (Benoist) looking for her next break unexpectedly cross paths, their fateful meeting leads to a partnership that changes them both forever. The project is described as a family drama centered around a new two-person band and the disruption their rapidly rising career has on both their lives and the lives of those closest to them.

Duo, which echoes drama series involving band members in a complicated relationship dealing with fame such as Daisy Jones and the Six, promises to showcase Benoist and Wood’s musical abilities.

The look of enchantment on Barry's face in the Flash/Supergirl crossover episode, "Duet," when Kara sang "Moon River," perfectly mirrored my own feelings. Magical. If this show is going to showcase more of Benoist's musical talents, as well as reunite her onscreen with the likable Wood, I'll be checking it out.

You gotta wonder if Teala and He-Man are going to sing in a musical episode, in season Two of Masters of the Universe, now that these two are headlining?

The CW shows were niche shows--they were never part of the cultural discussion except maybe in the early days of Flash and the first season of Supergirl. Supergirl has had a huge effect on comics and it put Nicole Maines in the spotlight.

It seems to me that your comment is meant to generate some sort of reaction rather than actually contribute to the conversation--but that's probably just me reading to much into it.

Also, it is way too early for Arrowverse nostalgia to hit. We're just beginning the nostalgia wave for early 00s, which Smallville is a part of, so it'll take another few years for the kids who grew up on Supergirl to get old enough to experience nostalgia for it.

A lot of the teenagers that might have seen Smallville are now adults, and into the nostalgia stage.

As we saw in Inside Out 2, Nostalgia gets put into the closet for a while

And with that, many viewers might have watched up to 4 other DC TV shows at the same time. Not sure what the 18-49 range was for Smallville....but the older viewers have a whole lot else for nostalgia

Those first four seasons were a joy to watch.

That wound being I want a Dreamer action figure, but can't have it, because that's a custom.

Yes you are, people do that with my posts I have no idea why.
Probably the burden of being higher I.Q than the average online person.

Back on topic: Arrow and Flash, at least the first few years had a lot of buzz, and after their end still has a lot of fond memories for the fans.
I loved Supergirl the first three seasons but just like all CW shows when every single character started getting powers it just lost its luster.
All four seasons of Superman and Lois, they never mentioned Kara even once.
But they were sure to bringin Diggle, Lucy Lane and re-raceswapped Jimmy Olsen LOL.

It's also worth keeping in mind that Supergirl was a CW series, and it had a much smaller audience than most other networks, so even though it lasted 6 seasons, it got a tiny fraction of the audience that shows that lasted that long on one of the other networks. So it's not going to have anywhere near the impact it would have if it had aired somewhere else.

It's been less that a decade since it debuted and only three since it's cancelation. Seems a bit early for nostalgia.

It's also worth keeping in mind that Supergirl was a CW series, and it had a much smaller audience than most other networks, so even though it lasted 6 seasons, it got a tiny fraction of the audience that shows that lasted that long on one of the other networks. There is almost nowhere in the world, where you can't say "I think Riverdale is a good show" and there isn't someone within earshot, rolling their eyes.

I agree with Supergirl---but I think the first four seasons were excellent. The Arrowverse was a victim of the pandemic and the actress issue with Batwoman and after that everything just felt phoned in creatively. I stuck with the different series until the end, but without enthusiasm. The Diggle crossover was mandated for all the series. He was supposed to get a ring, or at least that was strongly hinted at--but the Arroverse days were numbered by that point. By Season 2 the writers were forced to say that Superman and Lois was on its own world and this version of the characters were not the same ones we had seen prior to Crisis. I don't know why Jimmy was played by a different actor, but I imagine this was because or real world issues rather than creative decisions.

Why do you assume not creative decisions? Luthor, Jimmy, and Morgan Edge were all re-imagined.

It should also be noted that Melissa Benoist became a mother during season 6 of Supergirl, and that was one reason she wanted to end the show, to spend as much time as possible with her son during these first few years of his life. This also shows in her filmography, as she barely worked in the last few years, except for Kevin Smith (a personal friend) doing a short cameo for Clerks III (filmed close to her home) and voicing Teela on the second season of Smith's Masters of the Universe cartoon, which she could do from home.
It's only this year that Benoist returned to proper acting work. So, she was basically unavailable to film in Canada during the whole run of S&L.

Add to that, WB introduced a different Supergirl in last year's The Flash (which was delayed several times, so they wanted to release that earlier), and knowing the studio, they probably didn't want another live-action Supergirl around at the same time.

So, there are actually a whole lot of reasons why Melissa Benoist's Supergirl didn't show up in S&L.

Oh, that's a show I definitely liked. The stories were written interestingly and I had no bad time, watching it - could've watched up to 10 seasons of this show alone. I mean, the arrowverse was definitely something and I couldn't help myself, but think " This would've been an awesome DCEU, could've worked as great competition to the MCU. You don't need to include Batman, since Oliver Queen is the Arrowverse's Batman, just include Wonder Woman and this would've been a perfect DCEU".
