Was "Alice in Wonderland" the basis of season 1?

I know Alice in Wonderland is specifically referenced in an episode during the season, but I saw a video on social media which argues the connection is supposed to be much, much more explicit to the point that the beats of the entire season is basically a retelling of the story within the framework of Star Trek.

Michael = Alice. Just like Alice, almost all of the characters look down on Michael at first, belittle her, and think she's a bother. Also, just as Alice, part of Michael's backstory is that she doesn't fit in very well within any of the places she's found herself. And, eventually within the story, we go through the "looking glass" (The Mirror Universe).

I've never read Alice in Wonderland so my ability to spot connections is limited, but I definitely got the impression that the writers had it on the brain when they were writing. Not that this is anything new for Mirror Universe stories, as DS9 even had one called 'Through the Looking Glass'. In fact, references show up in lots of stories where a character takes a trip outside of the reality they know (The Matrix is the first that jumps to my mind).

I doubt the characters are actually supposed to represent anyone from the book, though if anyone's the Queen of Hearts, surely that has to be Emperor Georgiou? Also Stamets was the one who went a bit mad and Lorca was the one who led Burnham down the rabbit hole.
