Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Voyager B was only seen as a picture. So it makes sense they wouldn’t make it. And honestly I wouldn’t make any of the STO ships aside from the E-F ahead of the stuff Eaves, Krause, etc…designed. Hell, I probably wouldn’t make them period.

Unless I’m reading that wrong it looks like the Voyager A and Protostar are normal sized and not XL. That pleases me.

But it is BS that NYCC convention goers can buy the Titan and get it now ahead of us subscribers.

As with Eaglemoss, subscribers always seem to get the shit-end of the stick. Conventions and online stores always get first pick. If you're a subscriber, they know they have you on the hook and don't need to try as hard to get your business, so they make you wait longer than anyone else. It's a crappy business model, and that's the exact reason why I'm not doing the sub this time around.

Interesting they they're doing the old Titan, which Eaglemoss did three times!

Presumably they are also stuck with what Paramount will let them do, and they may want to reduce the number of STO ships for some reason.

Trekcore posted a list of the first 20 issues.

Some of those choices seem strange... Why would they do the Luna, Edison, and Gagarin class again before doing the Sutherland, Ross, and Reliant class for the first time? Or the Jein class, which is just a concept? Or the Pathfinder class USS Drexler and Eaves, but no Voyager B?
My guess is that they hope for a double dip later down the line with a Voyager B. I don't like the idea but from a business sense I can see it.

Enterprise-J was a corridor and a picture.
It’s a Voyager. I need that ship.

I remember petition model and the Lower Decks Titan. What’s the third one?

EDIT: I've digested the list from the Facebook link.
  • I'm sorry, we are getting TWO Pathfinder-class starships (#19 USS Drexler and free gift USS Eaves) but no USS Voyager-B‽ That just can't be right.
  • Why re-release a non-Voyager Pathfinder and the Gagarin? They were in the Eaglemoss STO collection. There was room for new ships like the Ross class and the Sutherland class.
  • Why is the Duderstadt class the USS Trumbull and not the more prominently featured USS Intrepid?
  • They're gonna make the 2401-era USS Enterprise-D, right? They've got to?

It’s cool that they found a way to continue the line, but I’m a bit disappointed in the choice of ships they are going to release. I think out of those on the list I will only definitely get the Protostar, which is just a gorgeous design, and then maybe the ships from Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks. But all those others couldn’t interest me any less. Waiting more than a year for the Protostar to even come out is also pretty disappointing, but oh well.

I like the box art

The Fanhome one which is pictured in the article I linked above, looks a lot better than Eaglemoss's IMO.

I think the Lower Decks version of Riker’s Titan is still the best looking one. Although the Fanhome one does look nice.

I’m hit or miss on the clear plastic for the nacelles, deflectors, etc… sometimes I do wish they’d go painted.

I'm also not particularly thrilled with all of the barely glimpsed/previously released STO/PIC ships. It's also worth noting that there's only one alien ship in the first twenty. I was hoping for a SNW Gorn ship at the least.

I think I'll maybe subscribe for the first six, since I like all of those, then cancel, because I'm only interested in four of the next fourteen.

Yeah, I can accept the Shrike and maybe some beautiful Lower Decks stuff (Romulan vertibird, Orion interceptor) but enough with the alien dross.

For those who find themselves disinterested in many of the ships - that could be a good thing! Sub the first few good ones, then cancel. Other people might stay subbed and then sell unwanted ships at a loss online - your chance to pick them up.

Subscribers probably wouldn't make a loss selling them on - Fanhome's direct sell-through has quite a mark up, so you would be able to undercut that whilst still recouping the subscriber cost. Subs don't pay additional S&H either.

I always assumed that in general it was Starfleet, then the big recurring alien stuff (Klingon, Romulan, Borg, Cardassian, Dominion), then the smaller recurring (Bajoran, Kazon, Xindi, whatever I'm forgetting), with one-offs and the perennially modded freighters coming in last.
