NFL 2024: Chiefs Kingdom Targets a Three-Peat

I wonder how much better the Giants would be, if they had paid Saquon Barkley?

I dunno... If a team doesn't know how to play as a team, one person is likely not enough to make a difference. Washington learned that hard lesson about RG3. I was never that big of a fan of his, but in his second season he got zero protection from his anemic O-line and it wound up greatly contributing to his prolific injuries and eventual downfall. He was doing way too many QB sneak and option runs because he couldn't trust his receivers or his running backs to get the job done. It overloaded him and he failed epically. People will blame him for being too arrogant. People will blame Shanahan for setting him up to fail. People will blame Snyder for pushing him on Shanahan when the latter wanted to use Kirk Cousins instead. Lots of finger pointing and blame-gaming on that one. All irrelevant. They failed because they put all their eggs in that one basket.

Now, conversely, when you have a situation like Peyton Manning, around whom the team was built from the ground-up after arriving from the Colts, it can be pure magic. When that player leaves/retires, though, the team completely collapses (like the 2016-2017 Broncos) because the next guy just simply isn't Peyton. Elway couldn't wrap his brain around that one and he didn't pivot in time before that team collapsed. Epic fail coming from both directions.

It's a team sport - they all have to work together. You can have some leaders, obviously - guys to amp everyone up, that everyone else can rally around for the 2-minute drill in the 4Q, but they all need to be on the same page or it just simply won't work.

I will take this as a response to my thoughts on the Giants and Saquon Barkley. Daniel Jones isn't a great QB, but, that defense is playing pretty well. So, I wonder if he might have made a difference to the current team. Barkley is a legitimate RB, and while it might not seem like a lot, being able to read the defense a tenth of a second quicker and being able to hit the hole a tenth of a second faster, might be the difference between 2-4 and 4-2. All of that for a third of what they are currently paying Daniel Jones. Plus, defenses would have to prepare for Barkley in a way they don't have to for Tracy. Which can only help Jones. Then, you have the pro of Barkley not being right down the interstate, helping a division rival.

Just one of those, you wonder if playing it out differently might have been a plus for the Giants.

I wonder if it will be like Ballers on HBO. I was so looking forward to seeing them go up against the NCAA, which they called "one of the most corrupt and powerful organizations in all of sports" ... and then it went nowhere. Hmmm... Me thinks lawyers got involved before they broke the final season in the writers' room!

I bet Cooper is thrilled he doesn't have to play with the Browns and Watson anymore. Hopefully he has a better second half than first.

I can't find the story, but the Kansas City Chiefs kicker is out stumping for a pro-life/anti-abortion candidate and one of the things he's said is that a woman's place should be in the home and his wife is a happy housewife.

Good for him. If his wife is leading the life she wants, good for her. Just allow everyone to lead the lives they want to lead.

Will Levis hurt, Mason Rudolph to start for the Titans.

George Pickens said Russell Wilson is starting Sunday for the Steelers, but none of the coaches have said anything.

The Texans got a lot of injuries heading into Green Bay today. Nico Collins being the more important one out on offense. Basically it just means if the Texans don't have a run game today, they'll lose. Which, I suppose, can be said about Green Bay as well. LOL

The best start to a season the Texans ever had was an 11-1 start, but they failed to do anything with it.

Three commercials in the first 30 minutes, the NFL seems all in on Trump.
