News Star Trek Voyager Documentary - Pre Release Discussion

On a slightly tangent, I've noticed a number of Trek related documentaries including Chaos on the Bridge, For the Love of Spock, and What We Left Behind showing up on Paramount+ recently, so perhaps Paramount will invest in licensing this documentary when its released.

Another update, this time promising that the edit is nearly locked and that they will release details of the Las Vagas premier in "a couple of weeks".

But they also seem to say they still haven't got any HD footage from Paramount, so the actual film still feels very far away.

Update #40 from The Star Trek Voyager Documentary!

I agree. It's been so long. They hate mentioning any kind of premiere dates.

It was kind of a long winded video. I understood their explanation when I was at Trek to SF, but I'm done supporting documentaries after this. Besides, Enterprise actually did have some nice Special features, and the only thing I would be interested in is if they brought Blalock in for a current interview.

I'm a bit lost. I've read quite a few posts here about the reason why the doc has been delayed but cannot find the explanation from the filmmakers. Could someone share exactly what they've said is the reason for this crazy long delay? Thanks!

Basically Covid got in the way as they planned to film interviews at the big convention or cruise in 2020.

After that it's not really clear why it's taken more than two years to edit. I suspect they burnt through the money and have had one guy working on it part-time.

Actual premiere dates. Will they happen? I think so, finally!

It's certainly encouraging to see this.I might have wished I'd bought a ticket to the NYC premiere, though a Monday night means I'd be looking at taking at least two days off work, so not ideal.

I guess I can maybe look forward to getting my Blu-ray some time next year.

This is probably just rhetorical, but does anyone know whether you can purchase tickets to the premieres if you didn't back the documentary at a tier that included them? It sounds to me as though that shouldn't really be an option, but what do I know?

If there are open seats in the theatre I wouldn't have an issue with that as long as doc backers get first dibs of course.

I watched it last night. They did a pretty good job with it. Berman catches a lot of flack but the guy tried to uphold the spirit of Gene's universe, while maintaining story and technological continuity with his three series going at the time, and while still appealing to a 90s television audience. This doc kind of made me appreciate what we had. Modern Trek is all over the map. UPN's meddling certainly did not do any favors for VOY and later ENT in terms of ratings and audience reach. They should have stuck with first run syndication.

Berman should probably get more credit for taking the flack from the studio and the network, which allowed the writers to do their jobs.
