(By semi-popular demand) Who's Your Favorite SUPPORTING Castmember?

Okay, I'm convinced. Most of you don't consider good ol' Scotty a supporting castmember but rather a crucial part of the main characters. This time I'll leave him out. I'm just curious who'd be the most favorite supporting character. And since the results of the first poll are pretty vacant I decided to put up a second one. (Here's hoping the mods won't consider this spamming. )

Again, my favorite character besides Kirk, Spock and McCoy (and Scotty) is Chekov. Gotta love that guy. But who is your's ... ?

I voted for Uhura. She can hail my frequencies any time! I almost voted for Sulu, as I think they utilized him fairly well till they favored Chekov more in later eps, but I have such a thing for Uhura. The few times they used her beyond making her the switchboard operator of the galaxy, I truly enjoyed those moments. -- RR

I susprised myself by having an opinion on this. Chekov is the only one of that list who actually registers with me as an actual character. Despite Walter's mock Lithuanian cum Russian accent, he's very charismatic in TOS and makes the most of his small parts. Poor Janice was one note, and the others never got enough to do to make them interesting. And Chapel...well, let's just say NBC was correct when they included Majel in the "no" list from the first pilot.

I voted for the prototypical redshirt, Mallory. Where would Star Trek be without redshirts? The entire main cast would have died about 7 episodes into the first season!

I probably would have voted for Reilly (sp?) if he was there. Or for the string of hot-headed, generally unstable navigators that manned the station prior to Chekhov. What was with those guys? Bailey...stressed out head case. Stiles...avowed racist. Those guys deserve their own category in the pantheon of supporting characters.

Chekov for me.
At least he had a personality, as opposed to Sulu and albeit tiring after a bit, his "invented in Russia" schtik was funny.

Sulu for me. He added a lot of energy to his scenes, loved all the "countdowns" and he could add a bit of levity or chew scenery when needed!

I used to like Sulu, but George Takei's recent behavior has poorly colored my impressions of the character. Simultaneously, I've become somewhat fond of Chekov, especially in his post-TOS years. (It helps that Walter Koenig has been so classy over the years.)
