Things that frustrate us all

Yeah, I originally had to do one at Wal-Mart, and Fry's too. Although I think Wal-Mart doesn't do them anymore. I used to have to do it as either urine or blood, but this time, which is at Lowe's, I just stuck this cloth thing on a stick into my mouth for a maybe about a minute.

I am kind of glad the infection isn't effecting me the same way it did when I got it several times a few years ago. Before it made me start puking my guts out uncontrollably, to the point that I ended up in the ER at 1:00 morning puking non-stop. This time it's just made me nauseous, but I actually haven't thrown up at all.

This frustrates me big time:

Labor Day.

Seriously. I wish all this Labor Day shit was over. I've never been more disinterested in a holiday in my life. I'm not even IN a union.

I could not possibly give less of a shit about Labor Day if I was DEAD.

Having worked retail for 10+ years and now in a different field where I get it off, I am grateful for the time off.

And after a rough week of family drama I am perfectly fine with any excuse to have a day off. I do not care about Labor Day, but I'll gladly take the time off.

I don't work on Mondays, and my store is open on Labor Day, so the time-off thing has no meaning for me either way.
It's also the last hurrah for camping around here so it carries a little more weight to the local area. But, I love the time off and will take it any way I can. i worked far too many Labor Days and so did my dad for me to not enjoy it.

I maybe get not caring about it, or it not having an impact on you personally, but what is it about it that actively frustrates you?

I'm not in a union either, but I can at least acknowledge that a lot of the things we take for granted in a modern workplace are only there due to the history of organized labour.

Here it's sort of seen as the unofficial "last weekend of summer", because it's the last weekend before the kids go back to school.

In my province, we don't get Remembrance Day as a holiday, whereas many other provinces (and workers in federally-regulated industries) do. So I don't personally get a day off for it, but I wouldn't say Remembrance Day "frustrates" me. (I guess, if anything, the provincial government frustrates me because they don't acknowledge it as holiday-worthy.)

But I'd never scoff at a day off. You know what holiday doesn't really mean anything to me? Victoria Day. Celebrating the birthday of a queen who died over a century ago, when I'm an anti-monarchist? Sure, OK. But will I happily enjoy the day off work I get for it? Yes, yes I will.

When I worked at Wal-Mart I very quickly learned to hate holidays, the store is always insane on holidays. The only day that was worse than a regular holiday was Black Friday, although the last couple times I worked it, things were a little less chaotic.
I hate when I'm sick and it comes and goes in waves. I'll feel better for a while, and then another wave will hit and I'll be in pain and feel like I'm about to puke.

I've worked Labor Day the last three years and it sucks.
For some reason, the higher ups seem to think that since all the other repair/tire facilities are closed, the store will get all of the business.
Well guess what, it doesn't happen. The store is fully staffed and everyone just stands around doing nothing.
No one wants to have their car fixed or buy tires unless they need to.
The amount of business we do barely covers one technicians paycheck.
I think the company loses money keeping the stores open.

I've been starting to feel better that last couple days, except I'm still getting nauseous, but nausea is a side effect of the antibiotic, so I'm not sure if it's the infection or the pills.
Be mindful to follow directions on the pills. Antibiotics hit the stomach hard, typically, and should be taken with some sort of food.

Yeah, I waited a little later and took it after I ate breakfast this morning, instead of before like I had been, and that did help

My 2-year-old computer keyboard crapped out, so I went to Best Buy and purchased a new wireless keyboard. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the thing to connect to my computer and I also found that the spacebar was too narrow. (I learned to type on manual typewriters and I need a wide spacebar or my fat thumbs will miss it.)

The good news: I had no problem returning the keyboard and buying a different wireless keyboard and mouse (for the same price) that come with the USB dongle so they connect to the computer automatically.
