What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

I'd say Picard/Data/Worf.

I dunno. When I think of the dynamic between Kirk/Spock/Bones then they were always thick as thieves.

You very rarely see just Picard, Worf and Data together in a scene as a trio. I actually can’t think of any instances where the three of them are together in the way the original three used to be.

SNW is often Pike and Spock with the third spot rotating. Though Chapel seems to be a fav. (My 20th Century self just popped up to say "CHAPEL??????"
Am I wrong in thinking that Chapel is the series regular that Pike interacts with the least? And almost the only time he talks to Ortegas is on the bridge (which is a fair amount, but it's entirely cute banter in service of "Erica make the ship do what I need").

No sense in talking to them, when you have Gorn Syndrome with La'an Noonien-Singh.

I laugh every time I see her name.

There was a pilot episode comparison earlier here.
One must remember when comparing 'Encounter at Farpoint' and other pilots that came after it that STNG laid down a foundation which others could build on.
STNG didn't have the support of other series from the era it was in.
TOS and the movies might have helped but Picard and chums were the first Trek people in 24th century.
From that perspective I think Farpoint is a strong pilot.

No, it was only carrying on of the biggest brand names in TV, ever. And pulled regularly from that catalogue.

It was called Star Trek, yes, but I was pointing out that DS9 started while STNG was on the air and VOY right after it, everything was ready, stages, people, miniatures, actors, funding.
While STNG started during the TOS movie era I'd imagine it didn't borrow so much straight from it like for example STNG laid down the Maquis storyline for DS9.

The basic sets had been there since 1979. Corridors, transporter room, engineering, the bridge turbolifts. They had a lot to work with. The walls of the first battle bridge were from the movie set.

They were also able to use an effect or two from the films.

They did basic remakes of about a dozen episodes. Riker and Troi were reconstituted Ilea and Decker. Data was a revision of Xon.

TNG owed quite a bit to both TOS and the movie franchise.

Models. A straight up storyline from "The Naked Time" in TOS.

Similar language, as Data and Spock comment about black holes in as things ships can fall through.

Models all over the place.

Sets were swapped a couple of times as @BillJ notes.
