And so, this Best Trek Season series of Polls, is coming to an end (almost), with the seventh season of the remaining three shows in question. Which show had the best one?

NOTE: I allowed multiple choices, but please refrain yourselfs from mocking the thread, as I do this because I wonder if anyone is torn between the choices. For instance, one may say DS9 had the best seventh season, but all other shows's seventh seasons sucked - know what I mean?

Well?

This one is easier than the last two.

1.DS9 easily takes this one. It had the best final year owing a great deal to all the previous seasons of setting up threads and character arcs that finally had no choice but to come to some sort of resolution as the series was ending. A major reason I find this season to be the show's best is because of the Final Chapter Saga where everything came together for a thrillingly unpredictable ten week adventure.

I loved how threads came together in interesting, unpredictable yet satisfying ways from Rom becoming the Nagus, Gowron being deposed and Martok the new Klingon Chancellor, the Breen joining up with the Dominion, Winn forging an alliance with Dukat, the Defiant being destroyed, San Francisco attacked, Section 31 being behind the Founder malady, Odo becoming sick, Kira donning a SF uniform and teaching the Cardassians resistance tactics, the parallels between Bajor/Cardassia and Cardassia/Dominion, Garak's homecoming, seeing Mila again etc.

I have fond memories of those months of April/May/June in '99 and I loved the weekly promos with "The End of a Legend Has Begun".

I know some find issues with how certain things resolved but I tend to not dwell on what might have been and focus on what was and overall I was satisfied. I thought the Worf/Ezri/Bashir stuff was overdone and Extreme Measures was a pointless momentum-killer but overall the final season was ambitious, engrossing and satisfying.

And I also enjoyed episodes like Badda Bing Badda Bang, Take Me Out to the Holosuites, Emperor's New Cloak, Inter Arma Silent Leges.

TNG on the otherhand was running on fumes. The efforts to prepare VOY, write for DS9 and Generations divided attention coupled with obvious burn out made this a disappointing season. In years past the mediocre episode was the exception this year it was the norm--Force of Nature, Masks, Eye of the Beholder, Emergence, Homeward etc.

VOY-well what can I say it was VOY. It had its decent episodes, mediocre ones but I felt the Unimatrix Zero rebellion that started off so promising in Part I was botched, the final stretch of episodes focused on the mundane and pointless and Endgame was disappointing.

I know I maybe the only one, but I voted for VOY on this one.

DS9s seventh season wasn't as strong as number 5&6, except for the final arc - got to soapish here and there. TNGs wasn't as bad as many seem to believe, but it was a little inconsistent.

Overall, VOY seventh year has IMO just more great episodes than TNG and DS9.

Since I haven't posted in any of the threads so far I'll recap here:
I think TOS wins the Season 1&2 contest pretty easily
S3 is difficult because TNG DS9 and ENT all had excellent season 3s, but in the end I went with DS9
S4 has a great deal of my favorite TNG episodes I had to go with TNG here
S5, S6, S7 are easily blowouts for DS9 imo, though Voy and TNG had strong episodes too DS9 was more consistent

My voting recap (regardless of how I actually voted, which I cannot recall :rommie:)

S1 - TOS
S2 - DS9, but TOS is close
S3-7 - DS9

I could not vote Voyager because of what they did to the Borg.

I could not vote DS9, even though it is my favorite overall series, because they eventually made me sick of "The Sisko".

That left TNG. I don't have any real negative memories of how it ended so it gets my vote.

DS9. A few week spots, but the show knew it was comming to an end and had direction and focus. TNG, on the other hand, just knew it had to end and was drifting a bit there (still good, though). Voyager, unfortunately, lost whatever focus it had as Brannon Braga left the show to work on Enterprise. They did the best they could, but I don't think there was really any indication that they were closer to home throughout most of the season.

Deep Space Nine started its Seventh Season on a bad note with all the Ezri episodes, but the final ten episodes were incredible and make it the best Seventh Season. The Next Generation felt very tired by this point, but the finale was incredible and I'd rank it just slightly above DS9's finale.
I have nothing good to say about Voyager's Seventh Season, so I won't say anything.

DS9:Ezri is the only thing negative for me about season 7. They should have just left the Dax character alone and focused on the many other plot threads the show already had.But overall a killer season: The Siege of AR-(whatever), Badda Bing Badda Bang,It's only a paper moon, and the final 10 episode arc just makes this a no brainer for me.

TNG: Good finale, but an overall weak season. I loved "The Pegasus"(which Enterprise almost destroyed for me:mad:) Genesis, and a few episodes here and there, but definetly a show that was ready to end

Voyager: I'd stopped watching by this point and have only caught a few episodes. This show should have never lasted seven seasons. Some really good actors were forced to work with some of the least interesting material on Trek ever.

Agreed there. None of the other shows come close.

S3 is difficult because TNG DS9 and ENT all had excellent season 3s, but in the end I went with DS9

I thought DS9 was a little uneven here while TNG rocked the house down this year with some of it's best episodes so my vote went to TNG.

S4 has a great deal of my favorite TNG episodes I had to go with TNG here

For me this is a toss up between DS9 and Enterprise. DS9 really came into it's own this year as did Enterprise. If the ENT finale had not been so shitty, it would win this one.Voyager and TNG also had good fourth seasons. Definitly the hardest pick of all the polls done. I did similiar polls last year that only allowed ONE choice and it was hard for everybody. But DS9 won it.

S5, S6, S7 are easily blowouts for DS9 imo, though Voy and TNG had strong episodes too DS9 was more consistent

I agree. TNG just seemed to start going into circles by season 7 with some very boring episodes while DS9 just got better and better.Voyager should have long since been cancelled by this point.

DS9, easily. There weren't a ton of gems, but the stories flowed together really well so it was mostly great quality episode-to-episode.

TNG had so much potential to be great, given their cast, but they went on cruise control with boring one character scripts and weak story ideas. God forbid we have one season without a Troi episode, a Crusher episode, a Geordi episode, etc. The strength of the series was the cast functioning as a whole.

VOY is just plain bad, and season 7 was no exception.

I voted DS9 and TNG. I actually think both of them had their weaknesses, but I'd take them over VOY's seventh season any day.

Voyager by default--TNG season 7 is my least favorite, DS9 is my least favorite series. I've got to agree, though, that none of them were great.

I think DS9 had the best seventh season. While TNG had its gems (including "Parallels", "Pegasus" and the extraordinary season finale), it wasn't as consistently excellent as the years before it and it beggining to become tiresome.

Whereas DS9 was consistently excellent once again, despite some weak episodes like the first two and "Prodigal Daughter" and "Emperor's New Cloak" (though all later MU episodes were bad). The final 10 episodes were all worth to watch, and despite it seemingly negative reaction, I loved "Extreme Measures". I did find the Kai Winn-Sisko-Dukat final "fight" to be largely underwhelming and anti-climactic. Otherwise, good season.

VOY was the most tired of all, with nowhere to go but insult us to no end. But its VOY, so...

TNG and Voyager's final seasons were mostly wretched and occasioanlly retch-inducing.

Definitely DS9.
