It's kind of interesting to observe that two out of the four I wouldn't have ID'd correctly without context. And a third only because he's holding a phaser. ;)

That's less an observation about the Pops and more about PIC.

Maybe I'm too old to understand it, maybe someone can explain it to me? :) I don't understand the hype about these figures with the big heads. They're everywhere. Why? For what? And what's the connection? It seems so arbitrary to me.

I don't want to spread hate or belittle it just because I don't like or understand it. It's a serious question.

My biggest issue is with how much damn room they take up at the comic book/collectors stores that sell them. Entire walls are filled with characters, but I never see anyone buying the damn things. I mean, they must sell, but I never see it. And space that could be used for more interesting things, in my opinion, is taken up by them. They're just so...... uninspired. Imo.

I bought mine off Amazon:

I have a lot of Marvel Funkos (I haven't seen the movies. I buy them mostly for looks. Ms. Marvel was 50% off at Target. ;) )

The ones I have were all Christmas gifts. I wonder if that's the majority of sales for these things. "I need to buy a gift for so and so, oh! He's into [sci-fi or comic book property] I can get him one of these Funko things."

While I've never objected to getting one as a gift, I really feel no inclination to go out and buy one myself.

That's exactly what I think. I too have been given several, but I don't think I've ever bought a single one for myself.

I collect some. In fact my first one was just a little thing to decorate my office. I think they scratch a little pop culture itch at an affordable price. 12-15 bucks a piece and they were cheaper pre-pandemic. They have such a wide selection from tons of different properties so it may just trigger something for you. They have characters from everything from Cheers to Friends to Law & Order to Marvel/DC, plus the 4 major North American sports leagues and TONS of anime and that’s just scratching the surface. I have all the Trek ones they’ve made except for Burnham, Riker, Troi and Saru and I’ll at least get Seven and Picard here.

I think it helps if you already collect action figures, statues, etc…
