Bashir meets Riker

Hi everyone. I’m currently working my way through the DS9 novels, and I have a kind of an unimportant question.
In "The Big Game" Bashir states that he met Riker twice. Do the writers refer to an of-screen meeting during "Birthright: Part I"/in any other related media? Or did they just made up this fact for the sake of it?
Thanks if you have any answer for me 😅

I think it was just made up but there are at least two times when it was possible for Bashir and Riker to meet. You've already mentioned Birthright.

The Enterprise was at DS9 during the events of Emissary: it's not clear whether the ship, having brought Sisko to DS9, remained docked there or whether it returned for whatever reason to allow the scene at the end between Picard and Sisko. Either way Riker could have met Bashir, whether in the bar or professionally.

ETA: I really enjoyed The Big Game!

Thanks!
I’m enjoying it myself as well, even though I’ve seen a lot of people online saying it was terrible.

The Enterprise is not the ship that drops off the Siskos.
The Enterprise departs DS9 during Emissary, and returns in the final act.

The Enterprise is almost definitely not the ship that drops off the Siskos.

Yeah, if I recall correcty, after Sisko's is contacted that they have arrived I think he says 'Yes captain' to the voice over the intercom. And it's certainly NOT Picard we here.
Also.... For dramatic purposes I can understand that the scene with Picard and Sisko with Bajor in the background works best when explaining his mission to him. But it was clearly the first meeting between the two.
And if Sisko was brought to DS9 by the Enterprise, Picard would not wait with meeting him until after they had arrived there. It simply makes no sense.

So yes, as you stated, it is very unlikely the Enterprise was the ship that brought the Sisko's to DS9.

Yeah, I even changed it to be more definite because the Enterprise actually arrives before Sisko. It has been at the station for two days before Sisko gets there. (I'm not sure where the Enterprise was when the Siskos arrived though...patrolling? ;))

I stand corrected.

Nevertheless, the main point, that Enterprise was at DS9 after Bashir arrives and, therefore, Bashir could have met Riker in "Emissary" is unaffected.

They probably don't count but I'm sure Riker met Bashir in "The Return."
Is that the Shatner book? If so, the book was published 3 years after The Big Game.. Bashir does meet Riker in it - but "Sandy Scholfield" couldn't have possibly known about it.

As the Shatnerverse uses a different timeline from the shows and litverse, our man Bashir wouldn't have known about the meeting either.

(Now see what's happened. I'VE started on nitpickery!)

Well, but you’re right! I was about to comment the same thing.
Continuity nitpicking is what my question’s about😅

Ah okay cool. I didn't look up the date it was published and for some reason I thought it was a relaunch novel!
