Spoilers THE ARK (2023)

Saw it Wednesday...unfortunately my family is dropping out.. I will try to follow.

I wasn't sure if they were dropp9ng some characters (based on them.miss8ng in the previews).

We will see if the reset will be helpful or not.

Leave a trail of jelly beans from their bedroom doors to the main TV in the living room.

Golly.

It's more likely that you all watched The Ark on your phones, all over the house, and then talked about the episode during the evening meal on a picnic table outside.

1. The future is weird.
2. It's already been the future for a very long time.

Wow, talk about the text book definition of under the radar. I'll have to catch up on last week's episode when I get the chance, hopefully in time to watch this week's live.

I am assuming they are canceling after this season?

The writer's strike "necessitated" a 2nd season?

Eh? How would the writer's strike "necessitate" a second season? And what does that even mean? The show has American writers, so if anything were to be necessitated by the strike it would have been its cancellation after the first season.

The Ark is made cheaply in Serbia.

It's in a bubble way away from the SWG and the SAG and all the guilds.

Even if American writers in America, are writing the show, everything else about The Ark is Serbian, especially the Serbian dinar's being wired back to the states via western union to pay for services.

If the strike in the US was still going, it would not phase the Ark's production.

That would only be true if all the scripts had been written before the writers' strike. Which contradicts the premise that the show was only renewed because of the strike.

Also, the show was renewed for season 2 in April 2023, a month before the writers' strike and three months before the actors' strike. So no, its renewal was not a response to the strike.

The person before was speaking with authority.

I'm just guessing based on the evidence.

The Ark is strike proof.

Its also pandemic proof.

Probably similar to NCIS Sidney.

Something in their back pocket, for just in case, if there's a bad road ahead.

I'm just guessing based on the evidence.

The evidence is that the show was renewed a month before the strike started, so obviously its renewal was not "necessitated" by the strike. It took me seconds on Wikipedia to determine that. There's no need to guess when it's so easy to actually find something out.

It was "necessitated" by the idea that no NEW shows would be guaranteed ready for the summer. From what I read, they wrre going "old school"...so episodic and NOT arc based (pun intended), so they could get a couple scripts in and in production If they weren't strike exempt...and if they WERE exempt... guaranteed new product for this summer

The strike was not a surprise.

The possibility of a strike had been hanging over negotiations for months before it actually happened.

Which was not my argument.

Eggs in a different basket.

Programming that could be still be made during a US strike, if a strike were to happen.

Well, I watched the premiere. It's everything I loved, hated and loved to hate about season 1. The show is not particularly good, and yet I'm still hooked on it either way. Whatever, I'm sure this'll be a suitable way to pass the summer by and in 10-13 weeks or however long this is, the network shows should be starting up again anyway.

You just completely summed up how I feel about this show as well. The practical FX and sets seem to be just a couple steps above 70s/80s Dr. Who. The visual FX are actually pretty good, if I'm being honest, but the actors and writing are pretty mediocre. Despite that, I'm hooked too! I don't get it, but I also don't care. LOL.

Is anyone still watching and/or wanting to discuss. I don't want to waste time, if no one else is.

It's been a fun season. I was worried that Angus and Dr. Kabala were being written out of the show... but they are deifnitely pretty sidelined. I am wondering if they had other acting gigs, and that's why they are mostly in the background? (That, or they can't think of good storylines).

And here's a great discussion from the cast....

from the AFter the Ark show... interesting that ALSO ANgus and Bryce are really British! (I knew about ALicia, and saw her slip up a coupl eof times with her accent on a couple of specific words)

Lots of love for Dr. Who, but surprised no one mentioned The Outpost as a crossover!

i hope it lasts for at least 1 more season. It seems like a retty affordable show -- as long as they can get some viewers

I haven't been able to keep up as I'm in rehearsals right now, but I do plan to catch up on them. I've caught the first couple of episodes and It's still keeping my interest. At least I'll be able to binge them!

I've watched up to the fourth episode, the alternate reality one. Which was probably one of the better episodes this season, but still, I don't know. While this show has never been particularly good, this season just seems kind of boring.

Man, I keep forgetting to watch this. I get the notification for this thread and by the time I walk away from the pc I've forgotten it.

I'm still looking at it, on Peacock. The fifth episode, "Museum of Death" was the best for me so far this season. I'm rooting for the series and hopes it gets renewed.
