I've finished S2 of Prodigy. It's VERY good. I'll rewatch when the English dub comes out, and do more notes. But until then, here are some random notes, some without context, but with MEGASPOILER tabs because the final act of 2x20 sets up and fills in what follows in BIG ways:
- VoyaAger has quantum torpedoes!
- "Sonic toilets" are mentioned more than once. The one on the Infinity still operates with a classic flushing sound though, which I guess makes it sonic.
- I think this is the first time in Trek where two holodecks are seen functioning independently of each other in the same episode, with the sorta-exception of "The Killing Game" on VOY.
- The USS Cairo, NCC-42136 makes an appearance, and Jellico would NOT be happy.
- Five new variations of Kazon ships appear.
- We actually see Parises Squares!!
- The Protostar's original crew included Chakotay and Adreek (the feathery Aurelian), plus a Bolian, an Andorian, an Arboreal Xindi (!), what looks like an Edosian, and several other humans.
- Sadly, we now know what an Aurelian skeleton looks like.
- We also know what a Tribble's skeleton looks like. It's not how Edward described it, but it could be the subspecies of Tribble found / created.
- It seems deuterium simply isn't easy to find in the Trek universe, whereas antimatter can be created by one bird, a little portable tech, and a little sacrifice.
- The gang has to relight the proto-warp drive with a supply of bosonite, which is found easily enough on an infested planet in a side quest episode. If it was THAT easy, what does this mean for future warp? Is there a reason future ships don't have it? Or does its technology just become regular warp at some point?
- The fighters are called Nova Flyers. They fly the Mk II version, personally redesigned by one Lieutenant Paris.
- The Romulus evacuation fleet destroyed above Mars was 20,000 ships strong!! This makes it arguably the single largest loss of starships in Federation history. Voyager-A was apparently spared, and her new Captain helps set up the kids' next mission.
- We see the 2380s PIC uniforms, apparently new and being rolled out to Flag officers on Earth first (as well as Raffi , Icheb, and some security officers on Mars, it seems). They even offhandedly mention that resources are so tight, that they couldn't even roll out the new AGT combadges to half the fleet, thus explaining why the 2380s uniforms were using the later TNG versions.
- The USS Prodigy is the production model of the Protostar-class, called the "Protostar-class-A" in the French dub, and is optimized for exploration. It also comes with shiny new uniforms for the new crew, a functional proto-warp drive, an old hologram with a new "ECH" designation, and two command seats.

It looks to me like that the Lamarr class carries an aeroshuttle at the bow of the saucer. The central section of the ventral is ambiguous enough that it may or may not also have a Sovereign-class captain's yacht.
In "The Maquis" one of their ships was described as a courier, although I'm not sure it was every confirmed that it was one of the same ships that appeared later in the episode and then was reused as the Federation attack fighter. Still, the Infinity has a lot of the same style and design, so I assume that's the idea.- 201: The Inifinity is called a "Federation Support Courier - experimental". So I guess there are more regular Support Couriers out there, in or out of Starfleet use? It's not just a Runabout sort of thing?
Eaves designed the Protostar. I don’t know who designed the Voy-A.Who designed VoyAger? Were Sternbach or Eaves involved? And btw, who designed the Protostar?
If I remember the first season finale right, weren't they warrant officers? It seems like this season shifted that into some kind ROTC/Space Camp thing that was lining them up for full admission.
I mean, the Voy-A is really not an innovative design, is it? It's pretty much a hybrid amalgamation of Intrepid & Sovereign parts, with a little Prometheus sprinkled in here and there.
Further, Janeway's Dauntless is pretty much a recycle of the original non-Fed Dauntless with some hull panels pulled up and out in relatively interesting directions. All other ships we've seen in the fleet have been established a long time ago. I am very pleased to see the Centaur finally get some real love, though.
The only new-looking ship that departs (again, relatively) from the norm is the Protostar.
And, to be fair, all of them look like they belong to the era in which they are being depicted. That's a big "plus" in my book, FWIW.
Yeah, that's why though I don't mind it at all, I also don't find it very specialI mean, the Voy-A is really not an innovative design, is it? It's pretty much a hybrid amalgamation of Intrepid & Sovereign parts, with a little Prometheus sprinkled in here and there.
