So,that makes all the other instances stupid, too.
Those 6 items I listed for DISCO, yes.
And in case I wasn't clear before, I'll say it more directly... we'll have to agree to disagree, because neither of us are going to budge on this.

I believe Nerys meant for the many times it's happened in Trek in general, not just for DSC.
Like it's fine to have that opinion on DSC, but do you overlook it for prior shows?
I definitely don't.I believe Nerys meant for the many times it's happened in Trek in general, not just for DSC.

Dad????Star Trek is stupid. You heard it here first!
Ok, probably not.
I don't see the difference. One episode, one arc, one movie one book...one whatever. Maybe the next one will be better. Or Maybe I'll skip it. Silly distinction to make. It's not as big a problem on the other shows because unlike DISCO, they aren't season long arcs that are dependant on this. And the fate of the entire galaxy wasn't resting on such small universe syndrome with people related to the leads, either.
With the other shows, if you didn't like that particular story or plot point, you can skip it because it was one episode. Two if you are dealing with something like "Descent".
But with an entire season anchored by it? Especially when they don't stick the landing? I can't get past that.

Damn you, Fonzi!"Jump the shark" jumped the shark before some of the posters here were born. FYI.
Before it was just a fish hop.
You rank all of them higher than seasons of Picard? Seriously? This assumes all IMDB ratings are pure and impartial, obviously this isn't so. The ratings went down after the show was taken off Netflix in season 4 in protest for example.
You can go to any number of voting sites and the ratings are quite high, some fan ratings nearly at the top. Amazon ratings are 4.5 out 5 for example for Discovery season 4. Season 3 a 4.7 out of 5!
So since your premise is erroneous we can't really assume anything in your post is accurate beyond your own opinion.
My ratings I've come with are sightly different than the TrekBBS ratings because I use a different method, but I rank the seasons as:
Season 1: 8.8
Season 2: 9.0
Season 3: 8.3
Season 4: 9.0
I rank all these higher than season 3 of Picard.
So I don't see much Shark jumping. I do see some trolling though.
They did.though who signed off on the Klingon design should exit Star Trek forever)
Easily. You rank all of them higher than seasons of Picard? Seriously?
WRONG.You rank all of them higher than seasons of Picard? Seriously?
S3 of Discovery is some of the worst Star Trek I've ever seen. The Kelpian Burn storyline was awful writing, and the story arc for the season was no better. The Emerald Chain, the Federation, Booker, the interior shot of Discovery that wildy distorts the size of the ship, and so much more. Truly Star Trek has rarely been as disappointing. I haven't watched any Discovery since the end of S3 and I don't know when I'll gather the strength to.
The issue with Discovery is the poor writing. I don't hate the decisions the producers likely made (though who signed off on the Klingon design should exit Star Trek forever) but mirror universe, Section 31 AI, all of S3, narratively story arcs and characters were just terribly imagined and developed. Voq for example, need I say more?
I'm not who you responded to, but... Discovery versus Picard. You rank all of them higher than seasons of Picard? Seriously?

No, no, you are to be browbeaten into accepting the general consensus of the descending swarm. SNW is all that matters, so much so that it should be treated as the franchise's year zero... its km 0. Everything must be evaluated by how much it shares in similarity to SNW, and anything that calls SNW's primacy into question must be ruthlessly suppressed, no matter how many award nominations, merch sales, or fan engagement it garners...One way or another, someone's going to have an issue some way over how I ranked them. Not a problem, though. Different opinions are what make this place interesting.
When the dust settles, I think the general consensus for the best seasons of Discovery will be Seasons 1 and 5. People who like what the show started off as the most will prefer Season 1. People who like what the show ultimately became the most will prefer Season 5.Whereas for this one, each season seems to have their "peak" fans.
TNG Season 5 having such a soft middle stretch is what really does it in.Almost everyone considers TNG seasons 3, 4, and 6 [...] were the peak for their respective shows.
