Casting and Recasting The X-Men

I think you're misunderstanding my point.

IMO (Phenotype/National)-American is a somewhat clunky option for everyday use, but can be still be accurate in certain circumstances.

For instance, Storm is "African-American" because she was born in America to parents of the African phenotype. Bishop as noted above is potentially "mixed race" as he may have recent ancestry from both African and Aboriginal Australia peoples.

OTOH, describing Idris Elba (but not necessarily all his characters) as African-American is nonsense as he was born in England to African emigrant parents.

Do you think Polynesians are Africans?

In terms of general phenotype, the consensus appears to be that they are Asian if any, which makes sense to me.

Do you think that Asian Indians are Africans?

Nope. Asian at least biologically. Culturally they are somewhat distinct from other groups that are more commonly referred to as Asian though.

Do you think Native Americans are Africans?

Nope. Asian if anything.

Again, culturally they are very much distinct from Asian (and indeed have very strong individualization within tribal groups, far more so than is common almost anywhere else).

I read long ago that Storm is a mutant with a mix of "perfect" racial characteristics, brown skin, Asian eyes an a white honker, which may have been fine in the 80s for Chris Claremont, but it's a little problematic now, so what you see, when you look at her, is a total fricking lie.

"One" of the origins of Bishop is that he is full blooded Australian, born and raised in an American concentration camp, of course that discounts Storm being his grandmother who would have given him a porridge of a little bit of everything.

If you want to be completely superficial: With rare exceptions, Aborigines look nothing like Africans.

IIRC, Indians (that is, people from India) are classified as caucasian. Yes, their skin is darker than northern Europeans but otherwise they are "white."

I believe it can depend on the sub-region and "tribe", but that is certainly true in some cases.

The key point is that they aren't phenotypically or culturally African despite all humans ultimately coming from Africa somewhere between hundreds of thousands to millions of years ago depending on definitions.

I looked that up last year.

In the very early 20th century a prestigious Indian Immigrant, a millionaire, was being hammered by laws intended to keep African Americas down, and eventually argued before the supreme court that he was not black.

He won.

Which means that it is a political distinction which could be over-ruled the next time the Supreme Court is forced to inspect the subject.

Magneto - Larry David.
Scarlet Witch - Julia Louis Dreyfus.
Quicksilver - Michael Richards.
Mastermind - Jerry Seinfeld.
Toad - Jason Alexander.

I think Julia Louis Dreyfus would make a better Aurora.(Jeanne-Marie Beaubier)

I see your Julia Louis Dreyfus and raise you a Sean Young circa Blade Runner.

You ever get the impression that Logan was not really into Jean? He just thought that she was Heather.

I never thought of that. I can see it though. One thing, both were like mother figures too. Heather helped Logan when he was found in the woods; Jean took care of him too by defending him to Scott. Scott's a dick.

I thought that was already the plan.

Maggie Smith or Glenn Close as Destiny. The old version of her.

Remember Lord Flashheart from Blackadder?

There's your perfect Brian Braddock, if Rik just didn't go and give up the ghost on us.

The problem with casting that old for Destiny, is that the sex scenes with Jennifer Lawrence might look a little gross.

If anyone is to play Kitty Pryde now, it should be Emma Myers

Rainbow werewolf from Wednesday with live action anime eyes?

I'm imagining her slap fight with a 13 year old Jubilee...

"No! You can't have the weird, unsettling and unhealthy friendship with Wolverine because I want the weird, unsettling and unhealthy friendship with Wolverine!"

Is he travelling the world with another tweenager that he is not a blood relation to? Oh, is that why they invented Laura, because no one with any character would bang their own clone? It's fairly difficult to stay frisky after you look down and see that your lover has identical feet to your own.

Cyclops - Josh Radnor.
Havok - Neil Patrick Harris.
Polaris - Cobie Smulders.
Jean Grey - Alyson Hannigan.
Wolverine - Jason Segel.
Professor X - Bob Saget

(The only name in that group of six above, that I did not have to go back and fix the spelling of, was Allyson, but that's just because we used to date.)

Millie Bobby Brown could be Shadowkat

Millie can do anything.

Hells, she could even do Storm.

But then she'd be Cancelled.

The accent.

Young Betsy, before she went Asian?

Um, that was just Jim Lee leading the the charge for representation, or some cold flash about the secret family Chris Claremont left behind after the fall of Saigon? ( Google Google... But the Minbari would never have accepted a gift like this from a stranger. It was all Claremont, but her transformation was only supposed to last for the duration of a four issue summer event, until it didn't.)
