I like Discovery, I like SNW. If I had to choose I'd probably choose DISCO, simply because it attempted something different. Believe it or not, despite how some fans try to create a polarisation to suit their own viewpoints, it is entirely possible that the noise individuals create along the way is not really representative of the audiences.
I also happen to think that SNW is just as flawed as DISCO, just for different reasons.
ya it's hard to gauge exaclty what people like on the internet and how much that represents people at large
Very view people think long term. Current media consumption culture is very sensate. And is that a good thing for the series, long term?
Basically, what I am asking is how much of SNW’s likability is because its basically comfort food for the viewers that they do not have to think about much. And is that a good thing for the series, long term?
You lost me at "openly queer characters". Hasn't SNW already done that with Chapel and Angel? If, for its final seasons, SNW adopted the tones set by the first couple of seasons of DIS - the darker tones, to the characters being in open conflict with one another, all the way to more risqué content and openly queer characters and shocking violence - would the show still be liked? Even if doing so led to more intellectually challenging content?

Shown sure, but it was mentioned in Spock Amock that she had a fling with a gal from Argelius II.Chapel hasn’t been shown with anyone other than Spock

Seasons 4 and 5, so far, are great.I liked the first two seasons of DSC, but had to giveup on the show after the awful, uninspired season 3. Like the first two seasons of SNW, but wish it would take more creative risks, like DSC did in the first few episodes, before the show went downhill. but even without thos risks, SNW is fun and entertaining, which DSC fails to be for some time now.
