Wanting an image from an old thread

Was anybody sharp enough to download the conceptual render (of a TOS styled travel pod) user B.J. created for this thread?

https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/tos-travel-pod.275405/

I was not. 9At least, I can't readily find it upon my computer.) The imgur link is no longer valid. True, I can PM BJ directly, but it seems that person has not visited the forums for roughly a month. I'm hoping this approach might offer quicker results.

Oops! Never mind. I found the render. I was looking in the wrong folder.

@Michael , you can lock or even "nuke" this thread if you wish.

So, does it still look like a litter box? Inquiring minds want to know.

I must confess that yes, it does, at least to me. The irony was that B.J. closely adhere to Matt Jeffereies and Gene Whitfield's design aesthetics, incorporating details found on the Galileo, like the centerline "lip" and the almost square viewport with chamfered corners.

I would host and then inline link the CAD type render, but as it is B.J.'s work and not mine, I feel like I await his permission or just let him present it himself. @Michael , what are your thoughts on the matter?

I agree, let’s give @B.J. the chance to chime in on this. There’s no way of telling if he deleted it himself or if it got otherwise lost without his knowledge. :)

Have you tried a reverse image search to see if it's still up anywhere else? I checked his DeviantArt, but I didn't see a TOS Travel Pod (though I did find a TOS Workbee), but he might've posted it on another board with in-line file-hosting or social media or something. I do think it was probably just purged by Imgur, they announced last year they were going to start deleting old images that had been uploaded anonymously.

Hey! I remember the design you're talking about (yes, it does look like a litter box!), and I can't find it amongst my stuff either. It's probably on an old flash drive somewhere. @Redfern, if you have the image, it's fine with me if you want to show it.

Since you've granted permission (thanks, BTW), here it is.

My cat has her own personal inspection pod :D If the windshield was widened so it wrapped around the forward corners then it would look less like a litter box, IMHO :)

I reasoned that, too. Hopefully @B.J. will provide us details, but I suspect he was trying to adhere to the view-port design as mounted upon the Galileo which lends itself to the comparison.

Yeah, that's basically it. Flat forward window, flat or simple curved surfaces for cheap and easy manufacture. It's not that far off from the TMP travel pod, mostly just giving it a TOS feel with colors and removing the big curved window, and removing most surface detailing. Plus the topside indent similar to Galileo.

To be honest, I'm a bit surprised this was remembered and is still being talked about. Not a big jump in logic, and not exactly my best work!

A bit of "back story"... Discussion upon a modest "private" forum of which I'm a member resulted in somebody asking what kind of private craft an OC of my mine might pilot. As the character in question is an anthropoid feline one humorous answer suggested something that resembled a human scaled "pet carrier". That reminded me of your render depicting a couple of TOS era inspection pods. I felt reasonably certain I had downloaded your concept art, but initially I could not find it within my personal drives. So I searched the fan art forum to dig up the original thread where you posted the render and make sure I downloaded it. I found it, but the link to the art was no longer valid. Thus I created this thread in the hopes you or somebody else might have the concept render. After a few re3plies, it dawned upon me I had been searching in the wrong directories. I searched again and found I indeed had downloaded the selection, effectively making the thread moot. But my personal quest apparently stirred up interest within others which led to a few of us "mentioning" you, so...here we are. Basically, my own, personal curiosity wound up "infecting" others.
