Virgin 1 repeats ending

Wow...all of this sounds even worse than what they do in the U.S. on Spike!

Terrible to leave you guys hanging at the end of Call to Arms!

I don't think they are ending. Emissary is on Monday and Tuesday at 3pm. Has anyone contacted Virgin and asked them why seasons six and seven aren't on?

Must be a complicated rights issue.

I don't know the full in's and out's of TV, but either they don't own the rights to season 6 & 7 or they didn't purchase them.

They've been showing clips from season 6 in the trailer since day one, so it can't be a right's issue.

Maybe they purchased 1-5 with an option on 6 & 7? I don't know the viewing figures for Virgin 1, but they don't have a massive share.

[edit] Looks like 0.6 percent. Not too far behind Sky, which did suprise me

According to the Guardian website, DS9 was regularly their most-watched programme of the evening. I remember being very pleased to read this:

Virgin 1's US drama The Riches, starring Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver, came to an end with just 50,000 viewers last night, Monday December 17.

Virgin 1's biggest-rating show of the night was a Star Trek Deep Space Nine repeat in the 8pm hour, which averaged 214,000 viewers.

The maths speaks for itself, I think.

Elsewhere, I saw someone suggest that they were just waiting for the Beeb's FTA rights to TNG to expire before showing that, and DS9 [& Ent] was just the only one no-one else had pay or FTA rights to at the time of launch.

I really don't want to wait until all seven series of TNG are done before they show DS9 S6&7 :( [Or worse, seven series of TNG **and** seven series of Voyager...]

Again the "dumb announcer spoiling the episode" strikes again.

Today "A Call To Arms" was broadcast.

It ends dramatically with Sisko leaving his baseball as a warning to Dukat that he WILL be back.

....then eight seconds later the brainless announcer over the credits suggests that it might have been a white easter egg.

Well Ive been waiting for season 6 and 7 since the damn thing started repeating because I wanted to record them all, the last two seasons are my favourite but now its stopped showing them Ive decided to go out and buy them on DVD. Cheers Virgin 1, you've just made an unnecessary dent in my wallet.

Really quite pissed off by all this. Well, massively. Have never actually seen any of season six(!) as Sky One haven't, to my knowledge, aired it since early 1999, and I wasn't at home during the BBC2 screening of s6.

V1 really treated DS9 like crap didn't they? Seems like it was used as just another filler until they got the rights for those safe, boring TNG repeats that even the crappiest satellite channels have shown at one time... (Man, I'm so sick of TNG. I'm beginning to realise how dated and charmless it actually is.)

Forgive my ignorance...but what is a continuity announcer?

The c*nt who speaks over the theme to the end credits, telling you what you already know from the papers, the listings online or on your digibox. That yes, there's another fucking programme on after this one!!!1!!

Most annoying, but the little boxes that appear and tell you five minutes before a programme ends that another programme will follow are becoming almost as annoying.

Ah, that makes sense. I actually kind of like those "c*nts". haha I think it's cool to watch my old tapes of episodes and hear what was coming on next 10 years ago. Brings back some memories. And the voiceover of credits didn't interfere with the episode at all! Those pop up things, on the other hand, are much more annoying.

Here’s something I just thought of, through Virgin’s On Demand Service you can get the entire back catalogue of modern Trek (TNG,DS9,VOY,ENT) through your Virgin box to watch when you want. If that’s the case then I assume Virgin do have the rights to DS9 seasons 6 & 7 – since they negotiated for on demand Trek then I hold high hopes that eventually they’ll show seasons 6 & 7 on Virgin1. But the question is… how long will we have to wait?
