25 years ago tomorrow, March 19th 1999, Farscape premiered and introduced the world to John Chrichton, D'Argo, Aryen Sun, Rygel, Zhaan, Pilot and Moya. Over the next four seasons we experienced what has to be one of the weirdest, craziest, and most fun sci-fi journeys ever to cross our TV screens. I absolutely love Farscape, it's one of my all time favorite TV series. I really think this goes right up there with as one of the all time greastest sci-fi series ever, and if anybody reading this post hasn't watched it yet, you should, like right now.

Shame we'll never get a proper HD version. Even if someone was willing to pay to do a ST:TNG and recreate the episodes, all of the original 35mm footage has been junked.

Whatever Shout! did with the material they had available is pretty good. I'll re-purchase the series at some point. It's better than my original Starburst edition DVDs.

For those few of us around here who were big fans of the BOOM! Studios graphic novel series from a decade plus ago, a Kickstarter campaign has been running in celebration of the anniversary. The main focus of the campaign is the release of a new 64-page comic and some very fancy, very pricy collections of the aforementioned series.

Since I already own the whole series in the original trade paperbacks (and the first few that were hardbacks) and I'm dirt poor now, I've only pledged enough to get the new comic (only $25), plus any of the additional swag that comes with it from the stretch goals (including an early bird pledge reward that I was lucky enough to get, but is available as an add-on).

If you're interested in the series (which I cannot recommend enough as the massive Scaper that I am), then be sure to check out the campaign since it only has 48 hours left. Sorry for the late notice, I meant to start a thread about it when the campaign started but I've been busy and distracted.

Just to clarify, the new 25th Anniversary Special comic is NOT exclusive to the Kickstarter it will be available commercially too. It's just the fancy variants that are the subject of the campaign.

Hidden within the reams of the campaign text:
And while FARSCAPE: 25TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL #1 will be made available through comic shops and digital comic book marketplaces in August 2024, these commemorative variant editions will only be available exclusively through this BOOM! Direct Reserve campaign, limited to their initial print run, and never-to-be reprinted again.

Excellent show that I was always surprised didn't get as much love as I thought it would. Have several copies of Farscape the magazine running around, as well as several action figures. In my opinion, the show zigged and zagged all over the place and was truly a sight to behold in it's zaniness.

I'm glad you pointed that out. I think I did notice that when I first discovered the campaign but it's easy to miss since there's so much content to read through.

Regardless, I'm happy to support the campaign if only to demonstrate there's still plenty of love and support for Farscape, whatever the medium.

Thanks for starting this thread. I did a rewatch thread a few years ago. I have seen the show three times through over the course of 25 years. I absolutely LOVE Farscape. It was and still is in many regards ahead of it's time. I miss the show and hope that we get some type of film one day.

I remember the first time I saw the show. First run. I was thinking after seeing the commercials....."pretty good makeup on the Blue lady. "

I sat down to watch it and never looked back. Such good times and for me probably the Pinnacle of original Sci-fi on tv.....just so good....

I was planning on starting the comics later this evening. I've read the first post PK Wars miniseries, The Beginning of The End of The Beginng, and first D'Argo miniseries,D'Argo's Lament, so far, and I really enjoyed them both. It's been a while since I read TBoTEoTB, so I was going to reread that and then go into the next miniseries, Strange Detractors. I thought about watching an episode this morning, but I looked through the episode list on Amazon Prime/Freevee and couldn't decide on one.

As a life-long Star Trek fan it's hard to admit, but I can't think of another show, Trek or otherwise, that compares to Farscape. It's brilliant, wacky and utterly fearless.

I should do another complete rewatch some time, then again... the end of the Peacekeeper Wars. :wah:

Here's a few short vids filmed for the 25th Anniversary:

Does Gigi age at all? ;)

Can't forget the Stargate tribute

I only watched the first six episodes of their run of Stargate (I never really got into the show and only gave it a chance again when they joined), so I completely missed that. Brilliant!

Can't believe it's been 25 years. Still one of the greatest Sci Fi series ever produced.

I talked to Gigi at a Trek convention a few years ago, and she was so fun to chat with. I'm glad she was in a Trek fan series so I can say I met someone from Farscape. Now can we get Browder or Black in a Trek series? I appreciated both of them in Stargate (Which I actually am rewatching now).

That would be very cool. I love that Browder had that wondeful cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 as a direct acknowledgement that Farscape influenced James Gunn.
