Okay, since our friendly contest runner Turbo seems to be tied up, I thought I take matters into my own hands and post the new contest. I hope Turbo is okay with that. Of course this is yours and I hope you'll continue running it when you find the time. :)

Here are the winners of the first round:

EliyahuQeoni won the episode contest! A close runner up was Outpost4. Congrats!

Belar (now known as NCC-1701) won the theme contest. Outpost4 and Turbo tied for the second place. Congrats!

Good work, guys! And now on to the second round ...
_____________________________________________

Going with the production order the next episode up is the classic Where No Man Has Gone Before. For theme we'll have The Monsters of TOS (every strange creature from TOS). The random theme will be Sequels (this can be from any source).

Entries should be no larger than 140x140px and/or 70kb. We'll see how long entries are accepted.

And now ... have fun!

NCC-1701, I have a .gif animation question for you.

I've notice in some of your animations, you do a lot in a small area while keeping the background the same. This lets you do detailed animations while keeping the file size down. I have a couple of .gif animation programs but none allow me to do this. The whole picture is part of each animation frame. Can you recommend a program to me?

Okay, here's a .gif animation answer for you.

Unfortunately there's no program that allows you to do that automatically (well, at least not to my knowledge). I have to do it myself in Photoshop. I manipulate every frame in such a way that I erase all areas that are identical to the preceding frame (you have to be careful, because even when there's no movement in a specific area from one frame to the next, the pixels still change; the point is that they have to be the exact same pixels). Of course that can take a lot of time. But I enjoy doing it. :) Then I load the frames into Fireworks where I assemble the animation.

Hope that helps. :(

BTW, I like your new avatar. :bolian:

^^^A proper animated GIF should only save the frame changes (deltas) from one frame to the next. I use this old program called Animation Shop 2, which used to come with PaintShop Pro back in the day.

^:guffaw:Funny, I didn't see that. Rat Boy, what have your parents done wrong?

Well, that's no ordinary rabbit! That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide, it's a killer!!!

Rat Boy, you tit! I soiled my armor I was so scared!

Here are my entries:

^ Thank you :alienblush:

But wow, I am totally awed by your animated icons. Great job!
Thank you, too. Actually I'm not quite content with my avatars this time. The second one looks like Kirk making out with the Mugato rather then fighting with it. But I digress.

BTW, I'm thinking about putting up the voting thread on Friday 8 pm (CET). Let me know if anyone needs more time. :)

Oh, that was the first thought when I saw the Avatar, but I also thought that was intentional. :guffaw:
