SPY PHOTOS at AICN

See, this is why they have got to stop being so secretive with this film. Things will leak out, and this is the result. We're seeing the shuttle interior/exterior completely out of context from the film. As I mentioned, perhaps it is simply very old and outdated, or purposely simplistic and/or rugged for Academy training purposes. We don't know, but people are judging the whole design aesthetic of the film on these few pictures, precisely because we have nothing else to use.

I have a funny suspicion that the bridge of the Enterprise will look far better than the beat-up cockpit of this shuttle, but many will assume otherwise until the powers-that-be give us something substantial to chew on. This is 2008 - camera phones, internet, etc. You can't keep something a secret forever. It would be far wiser to manipulate opinion by releasing things you want people to see. Then, items like this would have less impact.

This is a very good point.

My understanding is that the Enterprise sets will have very little in common with this example.

Of course your own milage may vary. Tell your doctor if you experiance nausea, blurred vision or abnormal armpit hair growth as these may be signs of a particular sexual side effect..
Speaking from experience?

I believe the completely appropriate retort to such a well thought out, articulate statement such as this would be:

"Yeah, your mom told me."

The better response would have been:

"Actually, yes. I do have experience with sex. It's wonderful. I hope you get a chance to try it sometime. With someone else. And for free."

Looks like it could almost pass for the old Class-J ship Pike was on when he saved all those cadets. Fits the supposed look, at least.

Guess it just depends on much they intend to show us in this movie... if they could tie it in well to the story, seeing the actions that very nearly cost Captain Pike his life would rank as one of the things I'd most want to see, right up there with young Kirk on Tarsus IV.

I like the beat up shuttle look, for this particular ship. The shuttle and set look like they're a part of some kind of older mining operation. It's doubtful a shuttle attached to something like a mine or fuel depot would be in pristine condition. It's not a shuttle attached to a sleek Federation starship.

NCC-1701 is my new hero. Thanks! :techman:

And those sloppy Starfleet bastards spelled "protocol" wrong! Once again, J.J. Abrams rapes my childhood.

I'll bet Paramount asked AICN to pull the pictures because they were embarrassed by it. ;)

Actually, there's a good in-universe explanation. It's an acceptable variation in spelling from the post-text messaging recovery era. Because of excessive text messaging the correct spelling of most words had been completely forgotten by the beginning of the 23rd century. The complete spelling of English words was just being reintroduced by Kirk's time.
We should probably be amazed so many words were correctly spelled.

OR --

You've stumbled across a major plot point. In one time loop, old Spock had someone spell it wrong on the sign in order to later trigger a thought in someone (young Spock?) and resolve a major issue in the story. That misspelling must be very important, and now it's spoiled for everyone.

I like that, actually.

"Protocals"? My compliments to the illiterati infesting the ST:XI art department.

TGT

In the future, people will still be il... illit... not spell and read good.

That would be better, but you're also assuming that actual thought and consideration was needed in responding. The "yo momma" reply was all this guy deserved.

Seems Paramount's really on the warpath - earlier posted pictures in this thread are no longer showing.

Ah, okay. The pics still seem to be in my cache. That's why they are showing up for me.

I'm sure that someone will upload the big versions to someplace like Photobucket

Thanks! Now the producers just need to find whoever was on set Tuesday at 15:16:18 with a Canon PowerShot SD700 IS and Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Windows on their home PC. :)

I'm getting a TOS vibe out of some of this: the location's resemblance to Delta Vega as mentioned above, the bright mono-color jumpsuits, general shape of the shuttle, lots of teal and black and silver, physical switches and controls. Nifty.

Damn it. Late to the party... All the pictures are gone from this thread. Could some help me out via. PM?

Please?....

I think it's a riot that so many people are treating pics of a shuttle (or whatever the hell it is) as if it's the fucking bridge. It'll probably have about five seconds of screen time.

Personally, I wouldn't be shocked if the production designers were featuring sets with obvious mileage as an intentional illustration of where Trek-tech has been versus where it's going... with a brand-spanking new NCC-1701. I fully expect the Enterprise to show less wear & tear considering it's "under construction."

Just a thought.
