Which were odd, as they seemed to be narrating events as they happened!!!!

Just because Kirk narrates in present tense doesn't mean they don't happen in the past. (See what I did here. ) Two of the best examples are when Kirk thinks he is Kirok in The Paradise Syndrome and when Kirk is kidnapped on Triskelion in The Gamesters Of Triskelion. The log narrations must have been added to the "teleplay" of the events after Kirk got back to his recording equipment on the Enterprise. I assume most of the log entries are minutes/hours/days/etc. after the actual events except when we rarely see Kirk or Spock giving the log entry to the computer.

Sounds like someone doesn't know what the fourth wall is. But complainers like to latch on to terms they don't understand and then swing them like a club.

Kirk's narrations are not breaking the fourth wall, because he is actually speaking those lines into the computer. in the process of recording his official logs.

Honestly, how did that soar over the head of anyone? Kirk is clearly stating he's making a "Captain's Log"--an official entry into the ship's recorders, not speaking to the TV audience--the latter case would be breaking the fourth wall.

I think it doesn't soar over anyone's head. I think they're trying to grab onto whatever they can find, and twisting it to try to make their argument work.
