Bujold was only on set for a couple of days. Those few bridge and ready room scenes are all there are. I'd like to hear her perspective, but that's also pretty unlikely. Plus, it was only two days of filming. A very minor blip in her career that she probably thinks very little of.
It was a job. It didn't pan out. She moved on.

Hunter, as Pike, didn't pan out? As I understand it, there was every intention to retain him for the second pilot but his wife at the time pushed him to ask for more money than was plausible, in addition to Hunter's long lingering ambivalence to fully commit himself to television, effectively ending his aspirations to distinguish himself in movies once again. An unfortunate development, IMO, and certainly a disastrous one for the actor, as events played out not many years later.
Hunter went right on to make another failed TV pilot after he passed on Star Trek, so I've never quite bought into that line. We'll never know, but he wouldn't have been the only person to have scepticism about viability of the show.
But I do think there are similarities, but more with Mulgrew/Shatner than Bujold/Hunter. Mulgrew and Shatner were both extremely experienced TV actors and knew what they were getting themselves into. They understood the rigours and demands. I don't think either show would have been as successful without them, and both Hunter and Bujold deserve credit for walking away before it was too late.
Imagine if she'd done six or twelve episodes when it was too late to write them off and reshoot before things came to a head? That's the intriguing 'what if' for me. Would they have carried on with Beltran as the star? I don't quite see it. More likely they would have abandoned the premise, brought the ship home and made TNG: 2 with a new captain.

I attended some of the con yesterday and will probably attend more over this weekend. I made it to the Voyager Doc panel but I'm not immediately remembering anything pertinent, other than that they were both apologetic for the delay and explained some of the issues that played into it.
I attended the Trek to SF Convention and they have so many hours of footage they need to trim down. The extra stuff is as long as the documentary itself. I also talked to Zappone at the con and thought it was a conversation that went well, considering what I had posted on the Idigogo page in December. I understand why it was delayed and Covid and the Strikes didn't help matters. I'm looking forward to it's release.
I'm really looking forward to this, since "Voyager" is my favorite version after "TNG".
Seeing a lot of frustrated fan commentary elsewhere online regarding the constant delays. Can't say I entirely disagree with some of it. I never expected production to drag on nearly four years, by the time it's most likely released, for the "all-time record for most funded documentary campaign ever."
There's a crowd-funded documentary for the first "Beetlejuice" movie, called "Documentary For the Recently Deceased". Its been in development since 2019, at the very least.
I wish I could remember how long it took WWLB to go from initial funding to completion...apologies if it was mentioned upthread! I checked Indiegogo and it looks like that one might have also taken several years, though.
It seems like a long time, but I'm not sure it's significantly longer than WWLB took.
