Earth seemed to have a very important place in bringing the Federation into existence, Riker in one of the movies said without Earth there would be no Federation, maybe that was always the case. Also, the new Starfleet of the UFP consisted of all the Fleets of the memberworlds, so not just Earth ships but also Andorian and Tellarite for example. And the Andorians had a ship with a name that basically translated to Enterprise. So they left it at that.
Maybe the motion of the "Starship-class" is something along the lines of a British naming convention. Ships named after historical starships. Like the "County-class" cruisers or "Battle-class" destroyers.

Early Federation starships for decades might have deliberately excluded any Earth naming, for political reasons.
Yeah but that timeline got killed by the Devidians or some nonsense, so who knows what actually happened now
One part that never made sense to me was that the past of the novelverse depended on the future and vice-versa. For example, Destiny and the Borg tying into the NX02's fate. Thus I think the whole novelverse was affected, not just post First Contact. The Coda trilogy established that the timeline the novels published from about 2000 to 2020 were set in had diverged from the Prime Timeline in 2373, so it's still entirely possible that the events of Rise of the Federation still took place in the Prime Timeline. Future canon could contradict it but that has always been the case with ST novels.
the NX-02 fate reminds me of the Franklin's in Star Trek Beyond. getting trapped out of time. One part that never made sense to me was that the past of the novelverse depended on the future and vice-versa. Well if you go by "In A Mirror Darkly" then that's likely, and he dies like the day after it was launched. And then Star Trek 09 suggests he was still around for a while after to send Scotty to the ice planet. That sounds to me like Nero's incursion kept Archer alive,I always wondered if Archer was still alive when the NCC-1701 was constructed if Rob April sought him out and asked for any advice considering he was stepping into some pretty big shoes.
I wished they had Archer show up alive, and still can in SNW, looking as Bakula does now with Daniels as his aide. They don't have to say or do anything to explain it, but having Daniels there next to him explains it all to anyone who knows.Well if you go by "In A Mirror Darkly" then that's likely, and he dies like the day after it was launched. Yeah, after what the NX-01 did for United Earth, I'm sure it was a very popular name. Much like today, not every Enterprise is an Aircraft Carrier. It's probably true for UFP but in regards to independent alien worlds I would love it if in the 80 years gap everybody and their dog named their firstborn starship Enterprise

I think in this circumstance it's not about age or ability but purely ceremonial, and I think for this ship it makes sense. These aren't perfect comparisons but the Enterprise CV-6 was decommissioned after 9 years and the space shuttle Enterprise never flew in space and ended up in the Smithsonian by the mid-80s. I usually like it if regular ships do last a long time though normally.I never understood why the Enterprise NX-01 was decommissioned after only ten years. We know it was Refit at least once (to look more like a prototype Constitution class.) but couldn't they have retrofitted it again? Also Do you think it was given the NCC-01 designation following its redesign.
One extreme view might contend that there MUST be an "Enterprise" in the fleet at all times.
